Your assessor should be helping you with this or someone in your workplace.

1) You may drop them on their arse

2) They won't realise you're about to drop them on their arse.

Good luck

1 lifting and handling without proper training can lead to back injuries strains and can also injure the patient being moved

Don't have the diploma but question 1 would surely result in possibly injuring or hurting the patient which then may result in you being reported or charged with harming them which is abuse. You also risk harming yourself if you move someone without the appropriate Moving and Handling training.

Question 2 I'm sure there are new regulations about Care Plans and the implementation of them. They are usually carefully completed and signed to show that they have been followed. You have a Duty of Care to your patients as well as for your own well being.

The fist is about the potential to injure your self or the patient

The second is pretty similar you will be looking at potential to do harm ie risk assessment you will also need to get permission from the patient as it could be classed as assault

Dropping them on their arse is pretty serious. Fisting them will have tremendous consequences

Have you any idea what danger you could be placing those in need/vulnerable people in if you have no interest in knowing and understanding these questions.

If I knew you then quite frankly I would have no compunction with regard to reporting you.

I've only completed up to level 2.

Have to say though, if you haven't already covered this with level 1&2, i'm not sure what course your actually doing??

Common sense tells you the answers if honest!!

Please please go and do some reading up on this! Especially if you're doing the award to go and work in care with elderly and disabled service users.

Its day one kind of stuff and im amazed it hasnt already been covered before level 3.

Hope everything goes well with your studies!

1. Assisting to move individual without proper training can lead to injury to yourself and others. There are many "lifts" which are now banned from doing as has been proven to cause injury to individual and staff member. The cradle bed lift causes back injury to staff and the underarm lift can dislocate the individuals' shoulder. There are policies in place. Have a look at the royal college of nursing website or your local workplace policies.

2. Care plans are legal documents which dictate care delivery. You are accountable to deliver care as stated in the care plan and failure to follow leaves you open to legal consequences etc. Care plans are person centred allowing for patient involvement in planning their care.

Hope this helps,

Cream x
