The Spanish are clamping down on unlicensed sellers on Spanish beaches selling to tourists their sunglasses, watches and the like. They Police will fine English holidaymakers or tourists are they are often known, 170 Euros which is the local currency in Spain if they are caught buying the goods. They could fine the seller instead but this could be another punishent for Brexit. To enforce this, the Spanish will patrol in plain clothes to blend in with the English so may be hard to spot in flip flops, shorts and Man City shirts with bucket hats. It is not known were the Spanish police will keep their radios hidden. What's going on here guys? It's all over the news..

As ever Tom, your rational arguments rival those of Don Quijote.

But can you please clarify - what is the local currency if they are NOT caught buying the goods?

Muchas mercis.

I used to partake in that endeavour. It was kind of hard to get by in Tenerife then, without the right to work.

We can't really grumble about another countries policies when we have come out of a union with them, for that reason ourselves.

Quite a thing we've given up, freedom of movement around the EU, we've made the world smaller for ourselves. I'm still to see any of these benefits it was supposed to bring.

Yeah, I found an article about the subject, but can’t find any suggestion that it is only English or British tourists that will be fined. So any suggestion of a link to brexit is pretty baseless

Disappointingly pedestrian thread from Tom - I thought it would be rather more risqué

Here's some other Spanish practices:

Una paja - a handjob

una mamada - blowjob

Una cubana - titwank

un beso negro - rimming

Interestingly, another word for blowjob is the same as the word for a frenchman
