Is it a scientific based non-fiction book that looks into the female body being the epicentre of human evolution? " Pretty much, yes. It (among other things) "explains the specific science behind the development of the female sex", and is non fiction, well researched with appropriate citations to scientific literature throughout.

"I’m doing the alphabet challenge (reading a book starting with every letter) to bring down my ever-growing TBR I’m currently on the letter E, so I’m reading Emma by Jane Austen! I love Austen and I’ve been wanting to read this one for a while, so I’m eager to keep reading. I’ve just finished Death in her hands by Ottessa Moshfegh which I rated 2 stars. I really don’t get on with Moshfegh but decided to give her another chance as everyone in the book community seems to love her and yet the book just gave nothing. Terrible ! Before that I read call me by your name and it has emotionally destroyed me and I fear I’ll never be the same again." Jane Austen is always one of the good classic novelists. I have a series of novels by Sue Grafton that are an alphabet sequence, but I guess that would be cheating for this challenge

"I went to bed early tonight to finish my book just finished Skint Estate by Cash Carraway. It was interesting but I don't really like her writing style. Now, I'm reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. " Skint Estate is on my waiting list. It had some good reviews. Hopefully Zevin’s writing style will suit you better.

"I just finished the classic, hitch hikers guide to the galaxy!! " Any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still know where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with. It’s always a fan favourite.

"Aw your reading corner sounds absolutely lush! I am not actually reading anything atm and haven’t read in forever! It’s something I keep meaning to take the time to get back into - there’s something so lovely about getting so engrossed in a book! " I’ll always bring out the best for the book club I’ve recently started reading physical books again, there’s something satisfying about the feel of a newly printed book, instead of digital copies. But some of my graphic novels are signed by the authors and I won’t risk damaging them.

"I'm reading Disney - So this is Love: A twisted tale It's aimed at teenagers... My daughter left it at my house and I was fishing around for something to read. It's not great, but not quite as terrible as I imagined it would be " Oh, I have seen them around, my siblings have the collection, mostly because it’s Disney. I have something similar for some of the Marvel characters, it’s a fun light hearted set but nothing that would be a stand out book for me.

"My new reading is much more niche. It’s the official NATOPS flying manual for the F/A-18 Hornet. As part of a research project. " I’ve read my fair share of aircraft flying manuals and reference cards over the years. It’s interesting on how some differ slightly depending upon platform type or even engine systems installed.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading though

"I’ve not long finished a short, yet quite disturbing one. Tender is the Flesh. Cannibalism normalised, is about the only way to sum it up." I read this, and I’m a weird book lover, and I LOVE extreme horror, but everyone on booktok was acting like this was some crazy book you only read once and can’t stop thinking about, but I read it, and yeah it’s weird, but it’s not like…super strange. I mean, maybe I’ve read too many damn gore books and need to re-sensitise myself, but it was just lacking something for me. I did enjoy reading it tho

"I've just finished The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, which was brilliant. Wonderfully written and perfectly paced. If you like Gothic mystery and suspense I highly recommend it. Apparently there's a film adaptation." That sounds good. Yes I think it was released about 10 years ago; Olivia Coleman and Sophie Turner were in it.

"I'm reading two books currently. You and Me on Vacation by Emily Henry and Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors. How are you finding them? Are they light hearted and easy to read, or take a little more focus to get through? " The Emily Henry is a light hearted romance so it's hugely easy to read. The Coco Mellors is a family drama with different POVs so I need to concentrate on it a little more. I'm enjoying both though!

"I am reading two at the mo. Fiction is 'The warm hands of ghosts' by Katherine Arden. Non fiction is 'The earth transformed' by Peter Frankopan. Only a few chapters into each one at the mo. " How have the first few chapters been for you? Is the fiction a gripping read to pull you in and want you to continue reading? What is the premise of earth transformed? I assume it’s taking a look at the evolution of earth to modern day?

It feels a bit jerky in it's writing style - I will keep going as I'm curious about the story. Frankopan is a historian and I'm hardly past the opening - too early to say!

"At minute I'm reading Run Rose Run - James Patterson and Dolly Parton was one of a number of books wrapped in plain paper (each one a mystery until I open it) I was given at Christmas. Not the normal James Patterson book but easy read. " James Patterson is a great novelist. That is an interesting collaboration.

"I'm currently reading 'quantum of nightmares". It's a comedy/horror set in a modern lovecraftian setting. Author is Charles stross and the series is "the laundry". This is the second in the "new management" trilogy, where the UK government is being run by an Eldritch entity, in a post "case nightmare green" world. It's quite good " It’s sounds very interesting. "I’ve been rereading a bunch of Stephen King novels I first read as a child. Currently halfway through The Tommyknockers. I first read it 35 years ago.
