"I was in the pit at a recent Springsteen gig and witnessed people who had smuggled in alcohol in gel bottles. They finished that before the concert started and one went off to the bar for more. When he hadn't come back over an hour later his friends went looking for him. Some time after that he arrived back with the drinks and then spent his time searching for the others. It just seemed a waste of time and money to me." So the moral of the story is they should have smuggled dr*gs instead

"Please someone tell me why this is a thing. Pay big money to see a band you love. Spend it getting pissed, queuing at the bar and going for several wee breaks disturbing everyone as you make your way to and from your seat. Crazy " Most people aren’t seeing a band they love. I swear 70% of the audience at gigs are just there to say they’ve been. It’s just a thing to do. Especially at Arenas.

Crazy " Even worse when you're standing and people are so pissed their beer is going everywhere but down their throats! I'm not a drinker and always enjoy gigs more when I can remember them, and I never begrudge anyone a good time. But I often wonder how people have so much money to spend on beer that gets wasted like that! lol

"The thought of a gig full of sober people complaining…… Is this the way of the world now? How about sober people wanting to watch the show but having the experience lessened by the selfish idiots " Well it depends on what they're doing, doesn't it? Your original post just said they're queueing at the bar and going for a wee every now and then. That's hardly being selfish. If they're being lairy and causing a nuisance in other ways, then that's a different kettle of fish.

"I don't think I've ever been to a gig without going for a few drinks beforehand. And if I'm at a festival I've definitely drank during the day. I don't see going to a gig is different to a night club. The vast majority of those drinking are fine, there will always be a couple of idiots." Sounds harsh but it’s the reality for the majority of artists. It’s only tiny bands that will be struggling to the point they can’t afford fuel or food.

"We don't really drink at gigs as we don't want to have to go out to the toilet and miss anything. We were at the Springsteen Sunderland gig last week and on the way out one young guy in front of us was staggering, his companion had to keep grabbing his arm. I don't understand the need to get like that. I never understood all those spark out on the ground at T in the Park either. Why pay that money for a ticket to miss it all? Just stay home and watch it on the telly." Exactly right

Just stay home and watch it on the telly." There was a woman in her 50s in front of me at the Springsteen Belfast gig who was absolutely pissed out of her head when she entered the venue. She was really loud and obnoxious, shouting at complete strangers but not only had she managed to get into the pit without a wristband, she had a full bottle of vodka hidden in the knotted sleeve of her jacket. There were 2 separate security checks on the way in and somehow no-one had seen the bottle or were interested enough to stop her getting in when she could hardly stand up straight. Some people struggled to get back on the bus afterwards they were so dr*nk which was madness because they got back into their car at the drop-off point. At least 4 people missed the bus completely because they'd had so much to drink they couldn't find it even though it was less than 500 yards from the exit. It probably cost them another £100 for a taxi back to where they had also left their cars. I'm no fun sponge but these were all grown adults with no sense of responsibility.

Even much bigger bands have to have day jobs! And they’re all fantastic musicians and you will have a great evening of entertainment, please don’t rubbish my comments, I do know what I’m talking about.

A lot of us go to see lesser known bands. Wouldn't go to a seated gig. Tshirts are twenty quid at the very most, lot of time a tenner. Cds a fiver. Proper music.
