4-2-3-1

GK - Pickford

RB - Walker

LB - Shaw (or Trippier depending on fitness)

CBs - Stones and Maguire

6 - Rice

8 - Trent or Gallagher

10 - Bellingham

LW - Foden

RW - Saka

ST - Kane

I think Portugal have a shot at winning it

He could go with Rice and Bellingham with Foden as the 10 but I think he's handicapped himself with an out of form Grealish and unproven Gordon at LW

I think Joe's nailed the starting 11 (I'd go Gallagher over Trent).

Who will win? France will be hard to stop, but think Germany might surprise people, despite shit recent showings in big tournaments. We've genuinely got a decent chance!

I'd go with that, Foden in 10 role and start Cole Parmer on the left of the front 3

It's a weird one, isn't it? I remember the clamours to start him at the last Euros but it feels like even though his career has got better, he's regressed as a player

I'm a grealish fan. Always plays well for England, draws players in and constantly wins fouls

That's an interesting shout! I don't think Palmer has played LW before although admittedly I've not watched Chelsea that much but might be worth trying for his performances at club level

Earps in goal.

Spain or France to win.

Three Lions to be played on repeat until someone is photographed weeping, on the front of a red top newspaper, probably wearing jeans and a vintage Engerland shirt.

"What's your starting 11 for England this year and formation?

Not many people’s first choice team but this would be my go to team.

GK. dean henderson

RB. Kyle walker

RCB. John stones

CB. Harry Maguire

LCB. Jarred branthwaite

LB. Luke shaw if he’s fit

DM. Declan rice

RM. Phil Foden

AM. Jude Bellingham

LM. Bakayo saka

ST. Harry Kane

In my opinion this would be the most balanced with stones stepping into midfield when we have the ball and over lapping runs from walker and shaw too

England to win it at last

I'm quite indifferent to England generally but I don't think they're going to be contenders, purely because of Southgate. I mean Luke Shaw is still starting games in 2024 for crying out loud....

I think this tournament is France's to lose, I also think Germany with home advantage will do much better than expected.

Tomori should be there. But I’d play Gomez over Maguire every day of the week. I think he’s got more experience having played many times in big games for Liverpool alongside quality centre backs. I think the CB position is our weakest and Southgate’s selection is mostly to blame.

Tbh I’m not a huge fan of the squad. I think it lacks depth in the DM and CB positions. I think that’s the difference between us and France. I really can’t see anyone beating them. But a final or semi final should be a minimum expectation for us. Southgate’s in game management will need to improve massively though.

Yeah I mean Gomez/ Maguire are our most experienced CBs other than stones and they’re not great. so it doesn’t really matter either way- they’re a weakness.

Bellingham will be exciting to watch next to Kane. Hope Southgate gets that tactically correct.

Liverpool

England's strength in depth in the final third is quite formidable but the back 5 (inc goalie) is not strong enough. A ropey defence is likely to be found wanting in the knockout stages.

Potential winners would be Germany on home turf, Portugal and France with Hungary as dark horses.

Jack Grealish is by far England's most talented player, and he's going to be sitting at home watching potentially Jude Bellingham running around wearing his number cosplaying as a creative forward
