Do you perfect a few "nice nicey" messages along the "hi, how are you" route before whoever your're chatting to/you propose your interest in taking things further or do you prefer to receive a message from someone who straight of the bat sets their stall out and go from there?

Probably a much easier way of wording all that but you'll get the gist

Is that weird? Possibly. I think I'd prefer people to talk to me however they want to, would normally and then it's a good indication of compatibility.

I think it depends on the vibes you get from their profile.

If I like them, and they seem action-oriented, my message will be more up-tempo.

If they seem a little diffident, I'll be softer in the approach.

If they seem intriguing, I'll focus on that.

At all times I'm being "me", but accentuating the bits of me that appear to intersect with parts of them.

And if not enough intersects anyway, I don't see much point in messaging.
