"Healthy respect. Identify, find gloves if the biting kind, deal with it."

I will absolutely never intentionally kill one.

We are reasonably lucky in the UK only really the false widow.

But some can give a nasty nip.

I've dealt with both poisonous kinds in Australia. Bite proof gloves do the job.

Find out where it lives and feed it flies.

The other day I gave the one in the shed a wasp, absolutely fascinating to watch this little tiny thing drag something double its body size, got a little intense as well thought he was going to drop it on a few occasions.

Hate them. Even the tiny ones. I have the hoover the big ones up with the long attachment as I can't settle if I see one in the house and start having palpatations one of the downsides of living alone, nobody to remove spiders for me

I like them. Find them interesting but crawling over me is a no thanks, I’ll pick them up and put them outside happily- I don’t kill them as I hate killing things, they are just trying to find some food, so I’ll let them do their thing- outside

We approve of if this reasoning - Mrs did the same with a snake.

Somewhere In The Ether…

I love them

Jumping spiders are my personal favourites as they’re incredibly cute close up.

St Leonards

They're lovely.

Apart from that really big, vicious-looking hairy one behind you all right now.

Staring...

Staring...getting ready to run all over your exposed flesh....

Wirral

One of the things I look for whenever I move house is how likely the new place is to be spidery.

"Established garden" Nope.

"Delightful tree-lined driveway" Nope.

Any climbing plants on the wall is a big no-no.

That's how I've ended up in a high-rise - yes the view is amazing but I'm here primarily because it's non-spidery.

An ex offered to send me on an arachnophobia course at London zoo but I wouldn't go because at the end of it I knew I'd be sitting with a giant spider on my hand.

Many years ago I called a taxi driver out to kill a massive spider. He commented how huge the spider was (the taxi driver, not sure the spider could speak but I wouldn't put it past them, sneaky fuckers that they are) and then didn't want to take any money off me.

I can deal with rats, mice, carpet beetles, earwigs, moths, cockroaches, lizards, snakes, pretty much anything, but spiders send me straight into panic mode and my brain just shuts down.

The dinner plate sized ones are fine.

It's the tiny* ones that will creep up on you and land you in the hospital.

They are the only thing that I am genuinely phobic about. I can't even read this thread for fear of what you lot might have written

Spiders and I have a mutual understanding. They stay in the corners and keep the bug population under control. I in turn do not disturb them. If they make a nuisance of themselves however, they will be put in a glass and forcefully evicted to the garden.

I'm not so fussed tbh and tend to leave them be.

If there's a massive one say on my bed it'll get kicked out into the shed or somewhere but otherwise I tend to leave them to their own devices.

I pick them up and put them outside or ignore them. They’re just getting on with spider business, I’m getting on with mine.
