"A stream of memories, moments linked by their emotional content, rather than time, of eye contact with my wife. My life reflected in her eyes. Like desperately searching through a pile of cards for the one that is lost. Over and over with a distant voice echoing beneath the sound of my racing heartbeat in my head. 'we need your permission'. Part of me died that day too. " What about you OP - what prompted the thread?

"I've been in a few RTA's, two of them quite serious. I didn't get the life flashing experience. There was momentary panic and confusion while my brain computed what was happening, quickly followed by calm resignation and a hope that it wouldn't hurt too much. There wasn't the time or headspace for anything other than the present moment." Yes similar. Though i didn't think about pain.
