We made it onto our train by the skin of our teeth. Decided to be all environmentally friendly and take public transport to the big railway station. We dutifully set off from home over an hour earlier than if we drove the car, pushed/walked nearly a mile to the bus, in drizzly rain, and here comes the bus! The omens were bad from the start. The driver couldn't open the doors unless she got out of the cab and did it by pressing the button above the doors. This had not happened prior to our stop. Obviously.

Bus proceeds but with each stop came more and more electrical issues until, about 3 miles into a 9 mile journey, the bus dies a death.

We disembark and order an Uber. Choices are very limited in our area. Along comes a BMW 3 series. Mr KC had to completely discombobulate my wheelchair and we had 2 little wheelie cases etc so of course, this was stressful.

Made it to the big station to find out that the assistance office has moved because the roof is leaking, so to get to it, one has to go back down in the lift, through the underpass, to another platform. I sent Mr KC.

Stressful isn't even the word.

We didn't have time to pick up snacks at the station (we ran the fridge down cos we're going away!) and they've just announced there's no catering on the train at the moment. Lovely.

Compared to yours, very well.

I'm just glad I'm too old to do national service or drive an ambulance at the weekend. Nobody please give anybody ideas about making oaps volunteer to plant turnips or work in the mines.

KC that sounds awful. Hope the rest of the trip goes well and you have a good restful break.

Mrs NC, I think we (the over 60s) should be forced to work picking turnips, since it is predominantly our generation that voted for Brexit (even if we didn't) and so lack of foreigner workers is our fault, plus it is the over 60s who mainly vote Tory - so we should be the ones carrying out the tasks that dishi Rishi is advocating.

Have a great bank holiday - get that zimmer oiled and fitted with wheels and a hoist for the toil in the fields

I woke with a throat that feels like I've swallowed two golf balls (Hades still has his attached so it's not them ) and I am currently trying to ignore the feeling of an impending cold so we can enjoy the bank holiday

Definitely better than yours, sorry you're having a bit of a poo time with it OP but hopefully you can enjoy it and switch off for a little bit.

My day is going well - I've had a hot chocolate with cinnamon, I've arranged to see an old uni friend on Tuesday that I've not seen for about five years and I'm slowly but surely getting there with the packing. Slowly being the key word.

I need a bayonet to stop people putting their bags in the wheelchair area around me.

A man has got cross.

A set of grandparents are complaining that they can't get a seat because they're pre booked.

I feel so happy sitting in this dedicated wheelchair space with manoeuvring room nearby

I want the other stiff thing when we get to the hotel (and offload our child!) But the stress might be too much for my travelling companion

Exactly why I'm moving away from public transport and have just bought myself a nice car, it's far too often a nightmare getting about on busses and trains.

My day's been good though thanks, been planted a load more food and set up a load of squirrel traps (keeps em off my veg and I get to eat 'em) and now I'm shopping for a decent trailer so I can set up another little side line for more income. It's been pretty productive!

Hurrah .

Let the Mr get some sustainance (child better bring back some sugary doughnuts or the like) as by the sound of things his work will not be over when you hit the hotel (and you need to make sure that your stresses are relieved!)

He got stressed at the need to make instant decisions because the entire train descended on the catering bit. He didn't buy himself anything

I've not had a car for three years now (until this week) and the difference is night and day, the amount of times things have been cancelled or run late or break down is maddening (almost every stop in our bus station has a list of cancelled busses for the day taped up in it every morning)

I'd be alright with it if it worked well but stagecoach here is terrible, it had the monopoly so there's nobody to compete against.

I don't envy you having to factor a chair into public transport either, the amount of times out local busses are packed to the gills or the chair space is taken so folk in chars get left to wait for the next bus :/

It shouldn't be as it is but yeah, stick to your car!

Well it’s kind of gone, Shopping, Pilates, gardening, cooking a Sunday Roast, sorting the beer/wine cupboard, garage tidy/throw out, shed tidy up and sorting my mums new phone, nothing stressful unlike yourselves, no snacks is stressful in itself just had to have a few cheesy crackers to tide us over as not finished cooking the dinner

I got up in a grumpy mood, can't even blame getting out the wrong side of bed as I went nowhere near a bed.

You knowe those days when you want to sit in a dark corner and drink rum and eat chips, one of those days.

We've just had a lovely Thai meal. Okay, I mainly ate the sauce and some soup (very delicious soup) but it's the first time we've had a proper, "posh" meal just the two of us, since I can't even remember. About a year ago, we went to a gig and had food beforehand but that was a basic burger at the O2. This was a proper PROPER meal

It was dark cedar, brown in normal speak, and so was most of my hand all day
