East Sussex

Warm boiled egg, tomato and salad cream on white bread with very thick salted butter.

Grated cheese, pref Wensleydale, pickle, tomato, bread as above

Cold sliced new potatoes, salad cream, bread as above.

Absolutely, on no account should there be any crust.

Never heard of a potato sandwich, other than crisps might give these a go

.

Lamb steak.

Whipped confit garlic goats cheese.

Chargrilled red peppers.

Sundried tomato paste. Finely chopped basil. Homemade mayonnaise. Lambs lettuce because rocket is foul.

Ideally in a ciabatta.

So good.

East of Eden, West of Hell

Dammit...

I love a good sandwich.

How can I choose?!

Chicken, bacon and sweetcorn mayo, with lettuce, perhaps a little rocket in a crusty roll or part of a baguette. I used to buy this when I worked in Mayfair, from a delightful sandwich shop round the corner from my office.

Well cooked bacon on a fresh white self-sliced loaf. Buttered bread, but no sauce.

A club sandwich. Chicken, bacon, mayo, lettuce and ham, cheese and tomato (perhaps make it sun dried tomato).

The post-Christmas sandwich. Sliced roasted turkey, bacon or gammon ham, sausage, stuffing, Branston Pickle, cranberry sauce, lettuce, mayo. Any bread is good, but granary works very well.

A toasted (like, a proper 80s toastie, from the snap down machine) cheese, ham and barbecue sauce. Buttered on the outside, to get the proper crisp. And it should be a double layer of cheese, so the ham is nestled inside the cheese.

Or marmite and proper butter on French stick. Or self-cut fresh white loaf.

I'm salivating... and I miss sandwiches.

Elle knocks up a mean "Harley bap" as we call it - lots of bacon, a fried egg or two and dairylea cheese slice or two, in a large soft white bap. The best!

A Sunday lunch leftovers fry up

Sliced meat on the bottom and crispy fried off veggies on top

A smear of sauce to match the meat

It tastes good on pretty much any bread, especially with a gravy dip on the side

Seconded adding left over mash to any sammich is elite. Mayo and salt and cucumber are a must.

Game changer, two ways to eat it, one, as soon as it's made, Frazzles stay crunchy, or give it an hour, Frazzles go a little chewy... Both good

Philly Cheesesteak it's unbeatable.

There was a great place in Cadiz, did a Bocadillo de Pollo. I do a version with a baguette, chicken breast, mayo and fried eggs.

Or a french fav is Baguette with steak and Fries mayo.

Monte Cristo - that's damn good.

Reuben is always good, nice little pastrami corned beef mix.

White tiger bloomer loaf for the bread, butter and marmite one slice, then put a thick slice of strong cheddar on that, then top that off with big spoon full of coleslaw, butter the other slice and place on top.

Give it a firm squwoosh with the flat of your hand, raise to your mouth and consume.
