I've just tried it out of curiousity.. the WiFi network I tried was an NHS one in an hospital.. no password needed.

Is it risky for hackers accessing?

I couldn't find out the settings to see if it's encrypted

Don’t use public WiFi unless unavoidable, it’s basically allowing access to your device for anyone else on the network

Use a VPN if you do

"No. It's public"

I would have thought the providers would ensure some form of security

The internet providers of your phone company?

I'd never access fab, access my banking app or do anything remotely sensitive on public Wi-Fi and I've got full virus protection on all my devices.

I see. Well it's a case of no lock on the door and take your own precautions against someone bursting in and seeing what you don't want them to

Using anything via the device is sharing information IE data... So your device data depending how you have it setup on your device

They'll collect information as it's the most valuable asset than cash
