No kebab shop

Jeez the local council round here stopped taking planning applications for them there are that many.

I would say within half a mile of me there are 5 chippies and about 10 to 12 curry / kebab / pizza joints, many on the same street

When I explained this delicacy at work one day, everyone reacted with horror. I guess that covering potato in batter and deep frying isn't the healthiest food choice, but god they taste good!

My usual order at the chippy next to where I have my hair cut is:

Child size cod and chips

1 tartare sauce

1 mayo

1 can of drink

and some batter bits

Open, with one plastic fork, and I'll have it at the table, with a bit of salt.

Scraps are essential but i didnt know they were also called scrunchies. Batter bits makes sense. Once asked for scraps in a chip shop in glasgow. They were very confused.

If you like scallops you'd like a sheffield fishcake - a piece of fish between two slices of potato, the whole thing battered and fried.

And oop north we don't worry about cards - most are eaten as a fishcake buttie in a buttered bap.

With chips on the side...
