2 weeks ago I had a terribly bad back....very painful spasms etc. Had some nice drugs from the Dr that I stopped taking on Thursday.

I have been doing lots of stretching and lunging and all those good things and my back is 100% better but the front of my leg and big toe is numb. It's sooooooo weird!!!

As a type 2 diabetic should I be overly concerned? It wasn't numb before the spasms.

Going to ring the Dr tomorrow but just thought I'd ask

Evie

You probably know all about neuropathy, so I'd definitely get it checked.

I suffer from spinal stenosis which has been somewhat helped by a titanium implant in my spine. I have permanent numbness in my leg, foot and toes due to it.

This might not be what your problem is but it's definitely a symptom of pressure on a nerve.

Don't be fobbed off by your doctor, insist on a mri

This. And what Mrs NC said. Sounds like a nerve being compressed by something spinal. Any new changes in sensation must be checked ASAP and look up symptoms of cauda equina syndrome. If you have any, go to A&E immediately.

Please get it checked

If you can, push for an MRI scan

I have put up with twinges and lower back pain for years

Being a bloke, I grimaced and carried on, assuming it was just cos I was getting older

Last year, I got so fed up of it not letting up, I went private and had an MRI

Turns out I have wear and tear in my neck bones and two discs in my spine pushing into my spinal cord

Effectively, the consultant said I need surgery, but as my symptoms are not life changing, he wouldn't do an operation because of the risks involved

So, please get yourself checked because if there is anything skeletal causing the issue, you may need to adapt your lifestyle in such a way that it doesn't make things worse
