On the flipside to my ladies thread re. At the spa/swimming.

Men, if you don't have cubicles available do you just get changed out in the open too or wait for one to be free?

Also Mr J said they had open showers in the men's changing rooms at the spa, I wondered why they don't have these in the women's?

Haven't been swimming in years but the local pool always had separate open changing areas for men and women with no cubicles and open showers.

A few years before it closed they added 2 cubicles in the mens side so I'm assuming they did the same on the women's.

The new complex has a mixed changing area which is all cubicles of various sizes including family sized and individual shower cubicles which are separate but all in the same area.

I've never seen anyone get changed outside those cubicles.

I’d get changed in the open area. It’s not like I’m going to be stared at. It’s not like we don’t know what a cock looks like, once you have seen one, you’ve seen them all.

That’s how I grew up in school in changing rooms, I never saw an issue.

* I’ve not read the other thread you referred to, so I don’t know where this is going to go.

because women tend to be a lot more conscious of their bodies, well more so than men i guess it doesn't bother me at all

My experience of school changing rooms was that they were open, showers were cold, and boys flicked you with their towels.

However, modern schools seem to have cubicles, but kids had no time to get changed post PE (son would come back caked in mud).

Re municipal baths, my local has cubicles in a communal area, whereas ones I went to in Cornwall tended to separate the sexes, and male changing areas were open.

Men just change out in the open for the most part.

There are certain people that change in cubicles, but I’ve noticed they’re also usually the same people who don’t shower after the gym. Must be something to to do with being insecure with their bodies?

I’m used to go to a gym that was ONLY cubicles. 4 of them for everyone, men and women, and I quit because you’d have to queue 40 minutes just to get changed after your workout. Nightmare

My kids never knew what it was like to shower at all. For the whole time in secondary school, they never had a shower in school. They went in their school or kit, and they had to sit in that kit all day long until I came home. nice. What a great way to teach our kids hygiene.

Same for mine, I could not understand why no showers/changing facilities in a modern building. Kids also did not seem to do cross country which was always part of our PE (and we came back mud spattered)

Yeah Mr J said the same in regards of what it was like at school, I wonder if it's even like that now? Doubt it

Don’t mind either set up to be honest. I’ve accepted who and what I am and equally important what I’m not which helps handle the body insecurities

Yep. They run round the field a couple of times.

We had to run through a park and across a cow field with bulls in it. (do you think I’m kidding?)

And people wonder why we were pretty fast.

Kids are soft today.

Yep, the same generation as my kids. They never did.

I was involved in getting their school opened and despite having a gym, sports field and MUGA, it had no changing facilities or showers.

You lot don't know what you missed out on. The dash into a freezing cold shower the flick of a rolled up towel against bare buttocks, trying to get changed on communal benches and not get your socks or pants wet as you got dressed.

You were lucky...

I would just get changed in the open. Wrap a towel round me and put my boxers on after a shower. Then just moisturise my body with my boxers on. And go from there

Nowhere

No way im getting changed in the open - half the fun is farting loudly in the cubicle then coming out looking disgustedly at the next cubicle… when a stunning woman emerges to looks of disgust

Modern youth using moisturiser - honestly, in our day it were some jif (now cif for the under 30s), a pumice stone or a brillo pad, and then straight into the horse hair longjohns

This.

And it's not like I'm not used to being naked around others. Happens enough at clubs.

Always give it a bit of a rub and pull before an open shower

Welling

I swim a lot and we have just one cubicle to change hence most change in open. Some use towels but I don’t understand it to be honest. It takes literally 10-30sec to put underwear on. If some other guy sees my cock for that seconds I’ll survive

As a kid I used to go to the cubicles, that changed when I reached my 20’s, no I don’t bother and always get changed in the free area regardless.

My thoughts exactly

It's similar in public toilets, when guys come in, look around at the urinals, then go in the toilet cubicles for a pee, even thought there's spare urinals lol?

Well you can use the urinal if it is next to one that’s occupied so you have to use the cubicle in that case

My preference is a private shower and cubicle to get changed in.

However I live close enough to a gym to go straight home, shower and change when I get there.

At my secondary school in the Caribbean PE was held in the final period/class before home time/end of day. We definitely didn't have enough facilities for everyone to shower. You showered when you went home. We just did a quick cleanup in the bathroom sinks and a full shower at home. PE was cancelled if it rained....After I left they said that kids had to change out of their sweaty/muddy kit before going home so I guess that's better than nothing.

and this being the Caribbean, everyone was sweaty all of the time.

somehow we survived...in the 80s and the 90s.

I'm assuming your children have not contracted any serious infections... hugs

I prefer private but it's not always possible due to limited facilities. So I often have a shower when I get home. I don't like to rush or hog the shower so other people can't use it when we've all got to get ready and go home.

I live 30 minutes walk/10 minutes cycle or 10 minutes bus from my local leisure centre and obviously, if I exercise outdoors...I can't exactly strip off anywhere in public randomly. Lol!

I remember being a child and scared of adult bodies... Lol! Becoming a nudist helped me over come that. Lol!
