Plus a growing realisation that parents screen time also has a negative impact on children’s development. So anything that reduces screen time for children has to be a good thing" Bit late now. The genie is well and truly out of the box. For a start, most of the parents had their brains numbed by television and the gutter press even before they themselves got dragged into the phonocentric lifestyle. Far too late for any other choice than evolution setting the scene. | |||

"I read an interesting article about how a small town in france called seine port voted to ban smartphones in front of the citys schools and in smaller public gatherings, at the same time, the municipality has committed to building a sports field and starting a film club for young people. The mayor will also offer junior high school students a basic mobile phone without internet connection for free, if their parents promise not to give them a smartphone before high school, it mentioned that it is a legally tricky project and of course, no fines can be imposed, but it is part of a growing trend in france an not just that, even eric cantona is against it and has banned his two youngest to use mobile phones and has in the coup become something of a figurehead for a problem most parents can relate to. What is your view about it and do you think that they should ban mobiles phones for the younger ones and can you relate to the problem that most parents seem to have and should it be implemented in the uk and rest of the world? I hink that something should be done, but as the article said that a good solution would be to give them a basic mobile phone instead "I agree they should be banned for children all you ever see is them tap tap tapping on the screen even when they are in groups of friends, when I'm with friends my phone is out of sight, my last girlfriends daughter would actually love doing activities, she couldn't swim but i bought her a life jacket her friend who i used to take with us would paddle the paddle board she loved it, we played badminton on the beach, she enjoyed it and at 17 probably the first time she had done anything, back home phone out. So for me ban them for kids, ban them in schools they aren't needed, they get in the way of life  | |||

They did the exact same thing with computer/video games when I was young. From the "Nintendo killed my son" headlines in the S*n when people were trying to suggest playing Super Mario Bros could give you a seizure, to having Lorraine Kelly on GMTV trying to tell us that playing the original Grand Theft Auto (yes, the really old, dodgy framerate, birds-eye view GTA for the Playstation One), was going to turn us all into serial killers.

What she'd make of the huge screens we have now I do not know. | |||

" You see, this is how you can tell it's a load of old boomer-think. So rather than use smartphones, a bunch of old people thinks it's better idea to have their kids running around risking brain damage (or boredom) by playing rugby, or to be sat in a room all day watching films, raising the next generation of telly addicts. Sounds a lot like what kids used to do for "fun" 40 years ago | |||

"There are certainly some people of around my age who have their telly on from the minute they get up (it's just so they know what the time is apparently) until they go to bed | |||

Something needs to be done about a lot of the content that is allowed on a lot of these social media video scrolling sites. " Who cares if parents are glued to them? They’re adults.
