"To me it means they have a job which means it's difficult to meet during the day. They're probably not into outdoor meets and worry about being found on Fab due to their careers. Don't understand why this comes up so often on here. The majority of us conjure an idea of the type of person who writes professional. It's either for you or not. Nobody cares if someone writes they are intelligent on their profile, and there are plenty of threads on here about what that means in general. So I think it's a word that some people get worked up about for whatever reason. All in all, it doesn't matter what the writer thinks about the word on here, only the reader. " Exactly this.

"We’ve got it on our profile -it’s mean to say a few things - discretion is crucial to us (same as lots of people on here) our look and feel is smart / dressed up we are looking for same in others we’re educated (same as lots of people on here) and that attracts or intimidates some people so best to flag up before wasting peoples time " How do them attributes make you a professional out of interest? We all require discretion, we all like somebody whose nicely dressed and we all are pros certainly if we work, its kinda pointless don't you think its like the legal disclaimer, just use your preferences to filter out those you aren't interested in

"A professional is a member of a profession or any person who works in a specified professional activity. The term also describes the standards of education and training that prepare members of the profession with the particular knowledge and skills necessary to perform their specific role within that profession. In addition, most professionals are subject to strict codes of conduct, enshrining rigorous ethical and moral obligations. Professional standards of practice and ethics for a particular field are typically agreed upon and maintained through widely recognized professional associations. So the law society for example or the solicitors regulation authority or the British medical association. Very often it is a role that could be described as pep . A politically exploded person. Or someone who is in financial control and open to the threat of professional and financial exposure by being exposed as being on fab. And yes it would be a breach of the ethical and moral standards of some associations. Law and accountancy as strong examples " lol we do have ethically moral people here in droves

"If one word on a profile puts you off it just means you're not compatible with that person/people. It isn't intended to insult you or make the person feel superior to you. " Pretty much this. I never understood why some folk get so uppity…….some say enraged even, about a single word.

"I'm a professional male and will only meet professional women (harlots at worse, femme fatales at best). These women should be professionally accredited and professionally appraised. They should also be professionally educated and profess to being professional themselves on their profiles. I make no compromises. These women must, I repeat, •must• have a professional job and be aloof, superior and supercilious. In return I shall promise to make love to them like a professional, lest my standards slip and all they receive is a fessional fuck, perish the thought." Sassy AF

"Professional male, Professional Female, Professional Couple. What is this? Are you a professional and if so what are you professional at?" We’re doing this again? Ok. “Professional” refers to someone whose job is a profession … they will have letters after their name indicating which profession they qualified in, will pay annual subscriptions to the professional body that they are a member of, and will partake in an ongoing CPD programme to ensure that they are up to date with professional standards. Examples: architect, engineer, accountant.

"I've taken it to mean lawyer, accountant, banker - shirt, blouse, suit for work type thing. " Yes. Gives a certain picture of the person posting. Some people will find that attractive, some won’t. Some will prefer army types, or builders, or tradesmen. Nothing wrong with saying what your background is. But some people get a bit chippie and take “professional” to mean “I’m better than you”

"I suppose the reason people might get upset with it is because they are trying to make themselves sound superior when in actual fact they are just the same as us " Trying to make themselves sound superior? By saying they’re professionals? I just don’t see that. It’s simply a statement regarding their work background.
