After 19 years ...

South Birmingham waiting for the bf to come back after crimbo

I've actually just found my dad again and saw him yesterday. He left us when I was only little and there wasn't much contact between us over the following 20 years, but I did manage to keep tabs on where he was until 19 years ago when he disappeared without trace.

I found an address with a matching name last week and wanted to know whether it really was my dad. It's only 10 miles from home but with the vile weather I've been straining at the leash to get over there and find out.

I'm not the sort of person who can write a letter and sit patiently waiting to see whether I get a response, so I bit the bullet, prepared myself for it to be the wrong house, maybe the right house but to get the door slammed in my face, but I turned up unannounced, knocked the door and as the door opened, there stood my dad, he looked at me, opened his arms and pulled me into the biggest hug I've had since I was a little girl of about 6.

We sat and talked for a few hours and I didn't want to come home, I don't ever want to lose him again, I'm just so relieved and happy to have him in my life again.

I know none of you really want to hear me rambling on about this but after 5 years of crap in my life, I felt it had to be time for something good to happen and now it finally has, I want to shout it from the rooftops.

That is such an inspirational story.

As a father who has lost touch with his son I would love this scenario to happen.

I hope that you treasure every moment together from now on in.
