"For crying out loud! Why does this even make the news, or need commenting on in such a manner? " tbh with all the serious stuff going on in the world ,this gender culture war/threat of impending doom to the world we know , is just so laughable .... makes me chuckle seeing the meltdown over 0.08% of a population in mostly theoretical situations Meanwhile in the actual real world ..........

You're clearly not on top of current events in showbiz or gender spaces. Evie. " Well said, just haters who are to thick to understand. And to think they think their into this scene

"Never thought much of him sorry her as a comedian BUT running so many marathons in so many days and learning French in a few weeks to do a gig in Paris in 100% French . Makes me wonder why such a clever and intelligent person would choose to spend the rest of their life looking like Ann Robinson" Not sure if this was an Uber compliment or an Uber takedown. As an aside, I can't help but notice there's a HUGE number of exceptionally minded "gender fluid" humans, for a relatively small proportion of people. Especially in the tech world.

I would have thought "why do you say that" is a lot less intrusive than "this person I never met is exactly what I say they are no matter what they say, think, or do, because I am the boss of what I think reality is". I’m not an authority on reality, neither are you. No man will ever know what it’s really like to be a woman and vice versa, impossible. And yes the children do need protecting, do you have a daughter that has visited a shopping centre women’s toilet and encountered what was obviously a man dressed in women’s clothes in there? Well I do and if it were to ever happen again I won’t be as controlled as I was previously. It’s nonsense because it’s leading down a very dangerous path. These are my thoughts and I will never change my opinion on this. Have a good day

"Call yourself what you want, and identify as who you want to be.. I just won't be going along with your mental illness" A man being bi, bi curious or gay used to be (and still is in some circles) considered a mental illness, something to be cured, just a 'phase' but as a society we learnt to accept, understand and realise that this was not an illness but more a genuine lifestyle, feeling, desire or sexuality. How would you feel if people were still saying you had a mental health issue for being bi curious, how would you feel if your bi tendencies were not accepted instead actively discouraged and shamed for?

Evie " I've yet to see any proof of this looming problem that's more convincing than individual anecdotes (and everybody clapped, etc). The statistics don't bear out that there's a widespread problem. I'm not saying that there's never a problem, of course that's possible. But if we're going to restrict people from expelling waste in safe ways in public, then we might start with the more documented problem, which is men's violence against women and girls. Lock them up. (I'm not advocating locking up all men. But it's a lot more fucking rational than forcing people to use bathrooms where they're much more likely to be beaten up, on the basis of a problem that scarcely exists) And for what it's worth I have been assaulted by a boy in a bathroom. His name was Ray. He was six, I was five. He also set things on fire. He was expelled, and I hope he got the help he needed. (Hopefully this doesn't break Fab rules because it was well past any statute of limitations, and he was under the age of criminal responsibility)

When children can’t feel comfortable visiting public conveniences we have failed as a society " Condoning this behaviour of using public bathrooms? I was a shy child. The idea of someone hearing me go to the bathroom as a child was terrifying. Please arrest everyone who doesn't wear noise cancelling headphones to the public restroom for child abuse. What does it matter which bathroom someone uses as long as they're not climbing the cubicles to look at someone's bits? In which case it shouldn't matter which bathroom they were in anyway.

When children can’t feel comfortable visiting public conveniences we have failed as a society Condoning this behaviour of using public bathrooms? I was a shy child. The idea of someone hearing me go to the bathroom as a child was terrifying. Please arrest everyone who doesn't wear noise cancelling headphones to the public restroom for child abuse. What does it matter which bathroom someone uses as long as they're not climbing the cubicles to look at someone's bits? In which case it shouldn't matter which bathroom they were in anyway." Apart from the delinquent child I mentioned above, the only problem I've ever had in a bathroom is toddlers exploring. Oh and occasionally some really eye watering shits inflicted on me from other cubicles. Oh my god eat some fibre people

"Eddie is a man, male, always was always will be. If someone can’t accept what they actually are then don’t expect others to accept what they pretend to be. Why does it matter? Why do you care? How does it personally affect you? Evie. Why does it matter to you what my opinion is? If you can categorically declare what a person is, when you've never met them, then why can't other people ask why you hold an opinion? I would have thought "why do you say that" is a lot less intrusive than "this person I never met is exactly what I say they are no matter what they say, think, or do, because I am the boss of what I think reality is". It takes some big brass balls to question why someone would question you, when you're declaring the reality of a total fucking stranger That’s it, reality is reality, I don’t pretend or make up an alternative version. I just wonder where this nonsense eventually leads us to? Who made you the authority on reality? Do you have a doctorate? How many published papers do you have in a relevant field? Or did you just learn something as a small child and have decided that that's the way the world is? I think that the "reality is reality" nonsense leads us to fascism. Take a tiny group that isn't really hurting anyone, make them the "enemy of the people". "We must protect the children". When the rapacious anger of the mob is not sated by sacrificing that one group, expand it. Asylum seekers, gay people, people of a different skin colour. Perhaps people from religious minorities. It's a long repeated path from the history books, and it never ends well. Where does letting people live as they choose lead to? Probably better mental health for everyone. Ooh. Scary. Have a good day " Mr KC got our daughter changed and showered after swimming in the gents changing room because the gym where she goes for lessons isn't wheelchair accessible in the ladies. Guess what? Nothing happened. She's seen zero inappropriate things. All's well with the world.

If I could determine that people whose birth certificate does not match the sign on the door was a large problem, I can't think of a way of enforcing that that isn't traumatising, expensive, disgusting, or discriminatory. (By discriminatory, even if we assume that "men are men, women are women, reality is reality" or whatever bollocks - there have been documented incidents of women with short hair being harassed for going into women's bathrooms. Women who when they were born, the doctor very confidently said "it's a girl!" kind of women. How many short haired women need to be sacrificed on the altar of hatred?)

My transmasc partner absolutely has a penis, and it absolutely passes on first glance, but the scars are there and it's not what he was born with. To go to a men's bathroom would clearly be incorrect by the birth rule. How many of these angry fathers would want to hurt him for going into the women's as obviously a man?

Would you ok with prices of everything going up to pay for said security guards? What would happen when people got it wrong? I’m sorry but it was an experience I hope I or my daughter never have to go through again. It was an elderly man who was probably 100% innocently using the bathroom but no one could know for certain. I don’t have all the answers but I feel like that element of risk should be taken away somehow. " So nothing happened yet you are angry about it? Did your daughter have any thoughts on it? Evie

Ooh. Scary. Have a good day So what happened with the person in the toilet? Was there any interaction between the person and your child or did they simply use the bathroom and leave? I hope that if you do lose your control that you are dealt with appropriately and your daughter sees that. Evie Wow! So you’re condoning this behaviour. This sickens me. When children can’t feel comfortable visiting public conveniences we have failed as a society Yes, if we can't stop adults bashing each other up for wanting to use the loo, something has gone really wrong. Listen I’m not a violent person, far from it but watching my daughter come out of those toilets followed by a man left me feeling angry OK. Sometimes people encounter things that are strange or unusual or a bit frightening. Doesn't mean that there is actually a threat or that the potential threat is worth the price it would take to eliminate it. Women are attacked by men (this is a fact, not all men blah blah, that kind of violence happens). We could solve this by locking all men up. Would that solve the problem? Absolutely. No man would ever be capable of attacking any woman ever again. Is it worth it? I'd say no. What would "use the bathroom according to genitalia or sex on birth certificate" look like in practice? How would you enforce it? Would you have genital checks? Would you be ok with some security guard checking your daughter's genitals? I don’t have all the answers but I feel like that element of risk should be taken away somehow. " You and your daughter will have lots of experiences that are regrettable. Presumably, given nothing seemed to have happened, there wasn't a problem. There is not a biological need to expel waste in a place where sex hormones match. It's something as a society we've imposed for whatever reason. The vast majority of people aren't animals. (Hell, once I walked into the men's entirely by mistake, froze in horror, and some guy calmly walked me out. I had no intentions of doing anything untoward, I just walked through the wrong door) The statistics bear this out - attacks in bathrooms are not a significant problem. And there's no solution that wouldn't be worse than the problem. (Take the number of actual assaults in female bathrooms on the basis of perceived gender - then think about the solutions that people have come up with and whether they're proportionate or would cause greater harm. Genital checks is one that bathroom police have come up with, it's not my idea, I'm not that perverted. The reality is that genital checks would have to be total and would have to start before someone looks 18, if we are to eliminate the risk. Longer queues, trauma from an otherwise necessary touching of intimate parts, etc)

"I’m sorry but it was an experience I hope I or my daughter never have to go through again. It was an elderly man who was probably 100% innocently using the bathroom but no one could know for certain. I don’t have all the answers but I feel like that element of risk should be taken away somehow. Would it have been better if it was a bear coming out of the bathroom though? Ooh. Scary. Would you ok with prices of everything going up to pay for said security guards? What would happen when people got it wrong? I’m sorry but it was an experience I hope I or my daughter never have to go through again. It was an elderly man who was probably 100% innocently using the bathroom but no one could know for certain. I don’t have all the answers but I feel like that element of risk should be taken away somehow. I would suggest not overreacting at such things in this way. My Dad has dementia, he's almost 85. If he managed to accidentally go into the ladies toilet when he's out wandering, I wouldn't expect people to feel terror. I might expect them to advise him he was in the ladies and the gents is over *there*. Or, if he was on the way out, just chalk it down to an old man not having all his faculties. I'm often frightened that his behaviour due to dementia will cause someone over react because he can seem odd. He's just a man with a wonky brain. And no, I can't stop him going out and no, I can't contain him. That’s completely different. This man was dressed as a woman but far from convincing (not that the level of convincing is important in my opinion). My father suffered his last few years with dementia, such a cruel disease. My heart goes out to you " I have thick dark facial hair due to a medical condition, and when I'm skinny I don't have much in the way of breasts. Sometimes I dress androgynously and have short hair, because it's a free country. My first name was in the top 5 of girls names in my area the year I was born, my middle name is a common female variant of a common male name. There is an F on my birth certificate. I have been menstruating since 1997, and have had ovarian surgery twice. I matriculated from a school whose name ended with "Ladies College". How would you determine that I am not a threat to your daughter when innocently wanting to have a shit? Just looking at me.

"the reality of trans women using bathrooms comes to down the elephant in the room , the media never wants to talk about .. Its about how you look , if you are lucky enough to look baseline acceptable to the gender then life is no issue I have found ..(now i am not saying this is right or wrong but its just a simple fact humans are a visual based animal) I am a trans woman and have been living as a trans woman (presenting female if you will with IDS ) for over 15years now .. I have had zero issues all over the world in bathrooms , never been asked my gender , never had someone scream are you a man ..(i also visit some very non lgbt friendly places as well for work at times) What I have experienced is multiple chats at the sinks over the last 5 years with older women griping about men/ trans using bathrooms to perv on people ..When i have then stated I am one these trans persons they all just say the exact same reply. i am different as I look a woman to them .. when asked where they get this news from most all say Daily Mail/ GB / some shitrag channel.. Trans women having been using bathrooms for decades and will continue to do so ... the issues is going to be who gets to decide whom looks female enough or not .. I have female friends that often get called "man/Him/Boy" as they are not stereotypical white woman presenting ,... Its going to be wild if the law comes down fullstop on bathroom use as the sheer number of people misgendered by shop workers / public is going to be wild and probably some lawsuits will follow .. There is a big difference between sweaty dave using the ladies loo and proclaiming to be a woman ..vs actual trans persons just existing and going about their day. I blame the media/Government for allowing this lumping it all under the trans umbrella ...as a catch all and its created this vile nasty scared/fear-mongering bullshit we exist in currently .. Its like a few iffy men trying to leverage a minority for no good are now being used as the face of the entire trans people ... I also remember being a kid and being told racial stereotypes / sexuality stereotypes from adults/media outlets / adverts/movies as well ...that didnt work out to well in the end did it.. As to mental illness ,, sure my trans aspect may well be seen as a mental issue but lets get it right ./. it is not debilitating , it doesn't stop me functioning in society / working / contributing/enhancing people/communities around me . like other people can do (or not do as many others are of no value to society . criminals/junkies/violent thugs etc ) .. If we want to talk about living in make believe and expecting the mass public to believe my reality well then we can apply to that every single religion in the world currently too. as simply we are meant to believe at face value something with no factual science evidence fact is gospel because x group tells me so ..... If I am deluded then i am no more deluded than over half the human race in this its a fun old world out there indeed " Quite. When I'm thin enough to lose enough of my bust, the fact that I'm not constantly obsessive about my facial hair (which comes from my shitty ovaries) gives me the potential to look like a man. If this kind of thing came into reality, I would be a target of this, because of my facial hair. I don't always pass as well as some trans women do. (And it's kind of funny being called "sir" in public. It's less funny when it comes with a risk of violence)

If I am deluded then i am no more deluded than over half the human race in this its a fun old world out there indeed " Well there in lays the problem. As you said a huge difference between a genuine trans woman and sweaty Dave claiming to identify as a woman, we've created an environment where we are afraid of the consequences if we say no to Dave you can't,who decides who is genuine and who is not,how do you define it how do you check it? And who's going to be brave enough to implement it,like many things in life a small minority spoil it for the majority in this case some perv wanting to get his( I used his intentionally) rocks off . Reading your post with interest it's good to read an honest account of someone living the life instead of people assuming that they know what you're going through and have been through. I want to say something that doesn't come over as patronising so I'll just say peace and love

Ooh. Scary. Would you ok with prices of everything going up to pay for said security guards? What would happen when people got it wrong? I’m sorry but it was an experience I hope I or my daughter never have to go through again. It was an elderly man who was probably 100% innocently using the bathroom but no one could know for certain. I don’t have all the answers but I feel like that element of risk should be taken away somehow. So nothing happened yet you are angry about it? Did your daughter have any thoughts on it? Evie Of course she did, she came out of the toilets in tears knowing that he shouldn’t have been there. What’s wrong with you lot? " Did she really? Maybe you should tell her not to be such a snowflake crying that absolutely nothing happened while she and another person used the bathroom. There's nothing wrong with us. Had said person encountered you in a male toilet, dressed as they were dressed, how would you have reacted? Evie

"Someone who IS a man you mean Did you feel their penis? See it to make sure it wasn't a packer or synthetic? Demand to see their birth certificate? If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, guess what? " It does a passable impression of a duck and therefore welcome in the duck bathroom?

I’m not an authority on reality, neither are you. No man will ever know what it’s really like to be a woman and vice versa, impossible. And yes the children do need protecting, do you have a daughter that has visited a shopping centre women’s toilet and encountered what was obviously a man dressed in women’s clothes in there? Well I do and if it were to ever happen again I won’t be as controlled as I was previously. It’s nonsense because it’s leading down a very dangerous path. These are my thoughts and I will never change my opinion on this. Would you ok with prices of everything going up to pay for said security guards? What would happen when people got it wrong? I’m sorry but it was an experience I hope I or my daughter never have to go through again. It was an elderly man who was probably 100% innocently using the bathroom but no one could know for certain. I don’t have all the answers but I feel like that element of risk should be taken away somehow. So nothing happened yet you are angry about it? Did your daughter have any thoughts on it? Evie Of course she did, she came out of the toilets in tears knowing that he shouldn’t have been there. What’s wrong with you lot? Did she really? Maybe you should tell her not to be such a snowflake crying that absolutely nothing happened while she and another person used the bathroom. There's nothing wrong with us. Had said person encountered you in a male toilet, dressed as they were dressed, how would you have reacted? Evie “Snowflake” isn’t the insult you think it is and you don’t get to say how I should talk to her. I’m not sure how I would’ve reacted to seeing the same man dressed like he was, sighed probably thinking what has this world come to? If you get to determine reality for all of everyone, then presumably we get to comment on what we would have done in your shoes. Our comments are far less far reaching than all reality for everyone forever And everybody clapped " If you understood the reference, that might have worked. I’m done " No, I think you were making up private messages, using evidence you can't provide because it's against forum rules to make your position look better. Common enough tactic. Kid story, I don't doubt. Although I'd be surprised if the answer wasn't to comfort her and tell her she was ok. You saying that you determine reality based on no qualifications - happened up thread. We can read, mate. That's what you were saying "and everybody clapped" You've said you were done several times now. Why should we believe you this time? (or is this the use of another common tactic, claim to be done so the other person stops talking? I don't abide that shit either)

Have a good day " Why is it, that every time the trans issue arises, someone ALWAYS trots out the Daily Mail 'man in a dress using women's bathrooms!' line? Everyone in there is in their own cubicle getting a piss. Clothing is readjusted before heading back out into the communal sink area. So what exactly do these pearl clutchers think that the 'man in a dress' is able to see, precisely? Someone else is washing their hands - good grief, call the cops
