On the night of the 16th of may 1943 33 Lancaster of 617 squadron took off 8 never returned 53 of 133 air crew died

It is almost unimaginable nowadays just what the bomber crews went through, not just for one mission, but night after night after night, climbing into those tiny spaces, not knowing if you were coming home or not

There was a fella of 99 had a taxi run in Just Jane the other day. That could well be the last time a surviving bomber crew member travels in one.
