Unlike many of my generation who seemed to get a phone in the latter years of Primary School I got my first aged 14.

It was a Sony Ericsson T610. Shitty little 0.1 mega pixel camera but I was blown away I could record video and take photos

It was some kind of Motorola with a flap that folded down to speak and you had to put an antenna up. It had a SIM card that was credit card size.

showing my age! This would’ve been around 1994? Few years later a wee Motorola thing when I was pregnant, then a Nokia prob 3310 or similar. First smart phone maybe 14 years ago

A Samsung SGH A300. It was a very nice compact flip phone with a blue back lit screen either side. A main screen and a little round screen facing out when phone was folded. Which was handy because you could see who was ringing without flipping open the phone and thus answering. I was 18 and it was a hand me down from my brother (he always liked to have the lasted thing). Lovely solid little phone, still one of my favourites.

Motorolla Mercury One2One M301 Flip.

Only usable in London at the time.

And back when the contract gave free calls from 8pm-8am and you could sell the phone with the contract in place. Big bucks.

Ericsson T10. Got it in 1996. The keypad cover also acted as a wind shield, good for not having to go the full Dom Jolly in public.

I have never owned a Nokia. I hate that ring tone.

Nokia 3210 or 5210 with the changeable fascia.

I was the only one of my friends & family to have one. I bought it when I started my new job. Pretty pointless. No one to text for months until they caught up.

All I did was play snakes & phone my mom to tell her which train station I was at so she knew when I’d be home.

I was 27 when I got my first mobile in 1999

it was a Motorola MR200 (I think) and had a great feature... if your battery went flat, you could pop it out and stick 4 AAs in as an emergency supply.

A Sagem phone (probably bought from Tesco) when I went to Uni in 1998.

If you messaged someone, you weren't able to bring up the numbers, so you had to know everyone's digits. And to get an 's', for instance, you had to press that number 7 button four times. You were buggered if you went past it to the ß etc... keep on clicking that button until the s reappeared.

And you could only send so many characters per text. And each text cost like 11p...
