You won't lose any storage by having a second dishwasher because you won't need storage room for all the plates ans regular things. Because they will be in a dishwasher!

I never use the dishwasher - last time was probably three years ago. Just got home and thought I would see whether anything was in there: just found three plates, two cups and an assortment of cutlery. Thankfully it was all clean.

Obviously a dishwasher is better but in spirit of the thread, I prefer washing up.

Even at my big age, when we go to mums, my sister and I still race to the kitchen after mum cooks Sunday lunch to be the one that gets to wash up because the dryer upper will have to be the one to put it all away.

I dunno quite how our mum conditioned us to literally race to sort the kitchen but she’s managed it.

I've got a dishwasher and I never use it it's far too much hassle and a waste of energy for 2 plates and few glasses

Bits of food debris floating about?

YUK!

For a start there is not likely to be any food debris in my eating lifestyle. Bones and similar get put in another cotainer at the table for appropriate disposal.

The intervening posts about egg and salmon bits in the plughole typify why I have such a system.

I bloody hate messy eaters and people who leave half a meal unfinished.

Under my system,hand washing up is a pleasure and is done immediately after each meal.

The crockery and cutlery self dry and any tea towels are there to impart a shine,if needed, before deployment. Mostly it isn't needed.

Dishwashers are for industrial scale catering and you can usually see how inefficient they are when you are given shitty cutlery in eateries.
