"Changes from one week to the next. I take out £100 a wek for shopping and spends. Sometimes I have some left over, sometimes I hsve to dip into the bank account again. I have a spreadsheet to keep track of my finances so I know what effect anything I spend now will have on my finances up to 3 montgs after. Having a grand in the current account this week you could be fooled into thinkin you could treat yourself but by the end of the month that grand might only equate to a spare £50 once everything has been paid. So well worth doing to keep tabs on things. Getting paid a set amount and paying everything by DD / SO certainly makes it easier to manage though." This is after everything has paid I am a nightmare at overspending....

" This is after everything has paid I am a nightmare at overspending.... " Seriously, do yourself a budget for the next few months on a spreadsheet. It's a great tool for helping you manage overspends Some people find it easier to bury their heads innthe sand though and worry about it only when the bills land. I started doing them out of necessity but found them so useful that I continued doing them even after I became debt free.
