Dabbled with BJJ, though my background is in traditional Jujitsu (4th Dan). I have several friends with their own BJJ schools around the world. I also occasionally train with some of the British Sambo team, which has many similarities to BJJ

Long time bro. I didn't start till I was 40, pissed off my instructor so was purple for 8 years . Only took me 3 to purple so took about 11 years.

I do like the GI don’t get me wrong but I started in no gi and my game isn’t heavily dependent on lapels

4th Dan, WoW that's pretty impressive. Have you ever needed to use it out on the streets?

I do too in part but my training time is pretty limited so I focus on enjoyment and teaching kids/beginners.

I’ll do like a 6-12 month deep dive into the gi though and really focus on lapels and basic str*ngles (not looking forward to it though )

Only twice. Both with against an ex GF. One the first occasion she assaulted my daughter after she punched me with a set of keys. Second occasion was a few weeks later she saw me in public and launched at me. I controlled her to the floor while her daughter called the police on her. When the cops turned up she said I had tried to ch*ke her. I calmly told him what grade I was, and if I had done that, they would have found her sleeping in the recovery position.

Luckily there were witnesses.

im under no illusion its a marathon not a sprint on average its a 10 year journey!

think the quickest a person got there black was 4-5 years and they was stand out againt world class opponents.

ill be honest im happy to be a good blue belt than a average purple.
