I love the idea of one, however our 3 days of summer doesn’t make the rest of the year with a a noisy convertible worth it, plus when I did drive one I felt so exposed I did not like it at all, people on buses and trucks all towering above you looking straight in!

We do have one. Nice little 2 seater. Like a go kart with doors and a radio. Doesn’t leak, not noisy and looks fantastic all year round with hood up or down. Contrary to popular opinion, not great to have roof down on really hot sunny days because you get burnt really quick but the sense of freedom rocking around country lanes on a nice summer evening with the roof down and some decent music playing is unbeatable. Highly recommend.

Convertibles can be economical to purchase and run. Practical too depending on needs (not including ours!)

And all those who go on about “not worth is for the 3 days of sun in UK” are missing a valuable point. If you owned one you’d understand. They are not just for sunny days, in fact better if it is just a nice dry warm day (sun or no sun). The times I have rolled my eyes and called a convertible driver to be a bell end when they have the roof down mid February just because it’s a nice sunny day despite it being 2 above zero!

Mine is a 200SLK turbo with hot air scarf around your head and heated leather seats so that's why its OK on a sunny February day. Even more fun on a warm summer night out dogging. Cum is a bugger to get off the bonnet once its dried on though...

I've had a Smart Roadster, Megane Coupe-Cabrio and a BMW Z4. I do miss the latter on days like this as you could run the A/C to keep cool but enjoy the sun too

In my 60+ years of driving I have owned some 14 Convertible sports cars or Roadsters as some people call them, It all started with a Triumph TR2 in 1958 through to a Mazda MX5 in 2022.

They included an Austin Healey "Frog Eye" Sprite x 2, Morgan +4, Jaguar E Type, MG Midgets,MGBs and MGC, Triumph TR4 and TR5.

These were not High days and Holidays cars but every day cars.

I would buy another tomorrow were it not for my Arthritis making it almost impossible to get in and out of them.

I would buy a 4 seat cabriolet but not really my thing.

Nothing beats sports car open top motoring.

Had a few in my time though mostly mid range fun cars, for things my Huracan you can only go with a real chassis it’s not worth the extra weight.

My favourite convertible however was the series land rovers….un bolt roof put in the barn and off you go!

I had an MX5 2.0 Sport (NC) used to drive that with the roof down in all weathers; you’d be fine and dry in the rain as long as you didn’t have to stop, which in a city full of roundabouts…

what's worse than not owning one.. is owning one and it being sorn ( leaving it so as we are trying to move)

I love my cabriolets.. had loads across the years mostly xr3i ones, and mgf or mgtf. Have a 916 spider 2.0 currently that has a suspension issue and alternator has died x

Loved my MG TF.

Currently hankering after a SLK R171 or a Z3.

MG Midget mk ii or mk iii would be the dream though but I don’t have the funds for a classic at the moment. Gutted I didn’t buy one when I had the chance a few years back
