Hard day at work. Came home, couldn't park outside my house. Ok, I know I'm not entitled to the space outside my house, so I parked opposite. Legally. No restrictions. Had a LOUD knock at the door. Opened my door to be faced with the male occupant of the house I'd parked outside. He told me to move my car. I asked why he couldn't park elsewhere in the street. Basically, he wanted to park outside his house. He told me he would have my car clamped and towed. Wow. For a legally parked car. Then his partner knocked. Her disabled father is visiting tonight, so I said sure, when he arrives, let me know and I'll move. It's now twenty past nine. No knock on the door.

Apparently, I'm doing it all the time. I remember her asking me once, and him once prior to tonight. And I moved for them both times, not a murmur from me.

Quite often I park halfway down the street because there's nowhere else. I don't knock on people's doors demanding they move, and threatening to have their cars clamped and towed.

For context, I have heard him shouting and swearing at his children. He had a go at my next door neighbour for talking to me tonight. He is 5'11" ish, very broad and muscular. I'm 5'5" not muscular. Mr Flat Caps doesn't live with me.

There. Rant over, I feel better already!

ooh i hated having street parking for same reason - my truck comes off my drive and slightly onto the path - i get the same from a neighbour that doesnt drive - your truck is on the path my daughter didnt see it and ran into it ..... eeerrrr its a 2.5 ton van - painted bright blue !!! kid must be blind - anyway truck still hangs over path - think kid has been to spec savers as they dont seem to have walked into if for ages .

tell him to bog off or you will call the police for harassment

I live down a dead end street where everyone parks outside their house. It can get pretty hectic at times, luckily you can get about 3 cars in front of mine and there's only me so I usually park ok.

On the odd occasion I've come home and people are parked so I can't get in front of my house, I wouldn't take someone else's space. I'd park at the end of the street or down another one and walk, whilst curing the utter twonks that parked in front of my house obviously.

I guess I just wouldn't take my neighbours space if someone took mine, unless it was my neighbour that took mine. Then it's all out war.

Get ahead of this. Call your local police on the non energebcy number and explain his intimidating behaviour and threat to clamp you car (which would he theft by the way). If he knocks again tell him police aware, if he knocks again it’s police. If he tampers with your car it’s police and criminal charges. Tell him not to come to your door again. Close door.

Deal with bullies with clear boundaries. Enforce the boundaries.

I did report to the police, just in case of further repercussions. And I am with you on boundaries, Glowopdoll. He is a bully, and wants his own way. I've stood up to him, which he doesn't like. Therefore threatening to have the car clamped and towed. My car is still in situ, and there is now space outside my house. Guess what? I don't need to go anywhere tomorrow.

My car is all in order, parked legally, he was aggressive and arrogant. I shut the door on him.

Thank you, yes, it's frustrating to not be able to park outside your own house, but it's not a right on a public highway.

I was shaken to begin with, but I'm ok now, thanks.
