Somewhere

I competed at national level strongman for a while, was never quite good enough to win.

Took up powerlifting, won a British title, competed and European and World finals, briefly held a couple of world records in bench press.

Injured pretty badly, never recovered from it and lost all my mojo. Last made an attempt at a comeback mid last year, just not got the drive for it now so train to keep in shape.

I'd like to compete in adaptive lifting of some kind, but I'm not properly classifiable. I've given up on any competitive adaptive sports and just do stuff for fun now.

I'm not a competitive powerlifter but had some really good numbers considering I'm ped free.

Started off just general lifting then got into strongman. Changed to powelifting recently due to elbow surgery.

Slowly getting back to my numbers

I've often pondered it but the federations seem like a bit of a nightmare so it always turned me off. It also massively annoyed me that I love squatting but can't move much weight while I am entirely indifferent to bench and deadlift but am pretty good at both

Competed in strongman for years and also did a few random weightlifting and Highland games. Before that I used to run obstacle course races like Tough Guy (the thing that came before Tough Mudder) but in reality I liked the races but hated the running training.

Nah start anything at any time. You might find a new sport and community you love.

Or you might get horribly injured... no wait ignore that bit. Just take the first bit of advice.

Don't let age put you off. I train people of all ages.

If you want to lift then go for it.

I was closer to 40 than 30.

I lift with an awesome woman, she took up competitive lifting when she retired at 60!!

Honestly you'd be amazed what your body can do.

Whatever the level ( and fair play to you) it’s harder when injuries stop you being the best version of you

Bit well done for the memories
