Eurovision is always political. The music is almost irrelevant so I don’t see the problem.

Which part of the response does the incredulous 'Seriously?' refer to?

If it is the bit about 'millions aint even got a tele to watch let alone worry about it, then I'm one of the however many millions in the world don't have a TV.

However, if you are thinking of the windowless in Gaza, I'm sure they will have prioritised restoring their ability to watch TV over and above the urgency of sorting out their wrecked lives and homes. Hope they are spell bound as the contest drags on.

The EBU disqualified Russia from Eurovision in 2022, saying the country's inclusion would “bring the competition into disrepute”. But then defended its decision to allow Israel to compete, saying Eurovision is “a non-political music event” and “not a contest between governments.”

Yeah, no comment

Music like sport should not be politically influenced. Any trying to push anything political into these should be taken out of the area and strung up.

People all over the world live in terrible situations and I'm always happy to donate to their health and well being but sport and music above all brings people of all nationalities and faiths together as one.

Curious what you think of the massacres of Jews in Muslim countries before Israel even existed? Many of them had been in those lands since antiquity. A large portion of the current Israeli population originate from those Jews driven out of Muslim countries.

It is historical fact. The Jewish population in each of the Arab Muslim countries have been reduced to a tiny fraction due to murder, expulsion and emigration. From hundreds of thousands of Jews in each country to to a handful of hundreds or just one or two thousands. In Gaza, in 2005, Israel forced 9,000 Jews to leave for their own safety. Since 2005, the Christian population, the dhimmis, have been reduced by two thirds.

People talk about incidents starting in 1948 but Jews have been murdered for centuries. In 1929, before Israel existed, the massacre at Hebron was significant.

No one died on October 6th. Israel is surrounded by hostile nations. It is outnumbered and outgunned. Hezbollah is reputed to have around 150,000 missiles. Iran will have a nuclear warhead by the end of the year. It helps to be a bit knowledgeable about the subject

On October 6th Israel kept over 4500 Palestinian hostages in its prisons. Hundreds of them are CHILDREN.

The huge number of Palestinian detainees is primarily the result of separate criminal justice systems Israeli authorities maintain in the occupied territory. The nearly 3 million Palestinians who live in the occupied West Bank, excluding East Jerusalem, are ruled by military law and prosecuted in military courts. 600 Palestinians in the West Bank were killed by Israelis in 2023 pre October 7. More than that number killed in Gaza in 2023 pre October 7.

Surrounded by hostile nations? Saudi Arabia and Jordan flew their planes to protect Israel against Iranian retaliation after Israel attacked it's diplomatic mission. Egypt do everything to support Israel in protecting it's borders. What do you mean surrounded by hostiles?

The lies in your narrative are despicable. But guess what, nobody believes it anymore. And that sucks for Israel who are left trying to silence the right to protest by besmirching the meaning of Antisemitism and equating "Jew" with Zionist colonialism.

They're the first to go against Talmudic teachings that Israel can't exist. Having a modern nation-state being defined by one ethnicity or one religion is problematic in itself – if not inherently self-contradictory – because the modern nation-state as such is a temporal and civic institution, and because no state in the world is – or can be in practice – ethnically or religiously homogenous. Somehow we're led to believe Israel is a secular state and that it's a Jewish state because it's God's promised land for the chosen people.

Music is supposed to bring people together

These brave souls demonstrating far away from Isreal

Idiots

It’s sad

What’s sad is that you don’t understand the genocide that’s happening years now. Boycott Eurovision, free Palestine

I hope you also boycott every Chinese product and stay away from anything Chinese because they are committing Genocide too.

Exactly, I keep countering the brainless leftie woke and muslims with China and none have an answer. The hypocrisy of the left wing and Muslims and vocal Islamic countries over the Uyghurs, the Tibetans and inner-Mongolians is astounding. Let alone all other conflicts and genocides in the world - arabs against black Sudanese, the Hindus and Kalash in Pakistan, Armenians, Kurds and on and on. "

Since you’re the smartest person in the room apparently, how about you address the very topic we’re discussing instead of constantly using whataboutism

Disturbing videos emerging of Israeli representatives constantly trying to provoke other contestants behind stage while preaching for unity in music is pure hypocrisy & devilry. Joost Klein, who dared to confront the Israel’s participant on Eurovision during the press conference, got banned from competition over an unknown "incident". Eurovision was always politicized shit show. Ongoing genocide and Killing of innocent 35000 among 70% of are innocent women, children and babies. Inviting Israel to Eurovision is like inviting Jimmy Saville to Kids party.

If you want to boycott Eurovision or anything else related to Israel, you should do it and there is nothing wrong with it. No one will bat an eye. No one would even care.

If you are going to ask other people to boycott Eurovision, they will ask you questions. They will ask you why you care about this issue more than other genocides. Is it because you care more about Palestinians than other victims? Is it because you hate Israelites more than other countries doing the genocide? Is it because it's easier to boycott Eurovision compared to boycotting Chinese products? Or is it just that you would like to get outraged about the latest trend on the internet?

All people aren't sheep and you aren't a shepherd who they will follow blindly. If you want to convince them, it's your job to make a convincing argument of why this matters.

If Russia weren't allowed then neither should Israel."

Because Putin hasn't yet found a way to declare any slight criticism for acting cuntishly and committing genocide as a religious/racist offence- unless you count the number of people who mysteriously fall out of high windows over there

Ironically, someone has been kicked out for some sort of threat- don't have the details but assume it didn't involve carpet bombing innocent people on the half chance you might bag an opposing terrorist in the explosions?

Someone’s now will say… “Hamas” “human shields” …. If one thing that this war has show is who the oppressors are

Reuters: Pro-Israel website funded by Israeli government ramps up attacks on pro-Palestinian student protesters. Sites like Canary mission, Raven Mission, StopZionistHate calling for their deportation or expulsion from school or suggested they should be r4ped or killed.

Israel is a terrorist state and their society is rotten to the core for supporting genocide in Gaza and targeting people who oppose this war on innocent civilians, women, children and babies

They seem to have very short memories on that particular reality across the board. They seem to think beheading babies and r*ping young hippies is perfectly normal behaviour as long as the target is a Jew.

Yes everyone acknowledges and noticed that was a horrendous terrorist attack. I think people can notice more than one thing at a time. If you think that genocide, starvation, destruction, torture and killing innocent civilians, just because, is somehow approved of because of the events on Oct 7th...thats the difference between a democratic nation state bound by international laws and treaties and a terrorist organisation.

Oh dear oh dear. Before you comment on others memories this shit show started on 14th May 1948.

You believe in any shit comes out of satanyhu mouth. Not a single baby beheaded on October 7th if you have proof and names please do share. This lie is all based on Zaka leader yossi landau account but when investigated by Sky news journalists, suddenly babies become 18/20 years old adults and he couldn’t provide any evidence that if they were beheaded. Do some homework before you post lies. Check Zaka leader Yossi landau own account denying babies being beheaded on 7th October. On other hand BBC journalists investigates and find IDF terrorists deliberately targeting children and babies. Still available on iPlayer if you are interested in facts but I doubt you’ll watch because it doesn’t fit your narrative. IDF are terrorists just like ISIS.

Which "innocent" people are you talking about? The only truly innocent ones here are the kids, and it's their parents who have let them down disgracefully. Don't forget, Hamas are not some foreign organisation who've taken over Gaza, they are the fathers, uncles, brothers and sons of those whose lives they are deliberately putting at risk. Who do you think is supplying and preparing their food, washing the r*pe victims' blood off their clothes and bedding them at night? Aiding and abetting a murdering terrorist is more of a criminal offence in the Middle East than in the west. The parents of these poor kids were given ample opportunities to evacuate themselves and their kids and they deliberately chose to stay, and have used their kids as human shields. Please don't ever call these monstrous neglectful and cruel parents "innocent".

Yes, but Israel government is responsible for Israelis first. They have a duty to get the hostages at all cost. If Israel doesn't do anything like all of you want, it's them sending a message that they are weak. Hamas will only consider it a green signal to commit more terrorism.

If Israel listens to you all and stops attacking and Hamas goes back to commit another terror attack, will you people take responsibility for that?

Your last sentence is not only totally wrong, but heartbreakingly naive. Since the invention of gunpowder, most wars have been won because one side was more brutal against civilians than the other. In WW2, Allied air forces bombed and killed over half a million German citizens, and they did the same to us. It's only because we were more brutal and killed more of their people than they killed of ours that we "won", and you are able to sit there comfortably and with the wealth and freedom to be able to voice your rather hypocritical views. My last word on this for now because I am enjoying the same freedom by the pool, but Hiroshima and Nagasaki, early August 1945. Over a quarter of a million citizens killed outright, thousands left starving and dying from radiation. Three weeks later, "peace" was declared.

Eurovision is corrupt, always has been.

From countries obviously voting for their neighbours regardless of the song was any good, to recent EBU contradicting it's own rules. It should be the best song, but it's not. Last year Ukraine won on a sympathy vote, the song wasn't even that good never mind the best. Take the situation out of it and it wouldn't have been anywhere near the top let alone winning it. We got screwed over.

"I’m saddened that people want to disrupt this iconic even

Idiots

It’s sad

The issue isn't with the Israeli performers. The issue is the hypocrisy being shown by the EBU. They don't get to ban Russia for attacking Ukraine but allow Israel to compete for doing the same thing. Fuck them.

Russia invaded Ukraine, Israel retaliated to a terrorist attack

By invading gaza, flattening all buildings, indiscriminate bombing of civilians, preventing food aid to famine victims and committing war crimes.

Hamas could just release the hostages to stop this.

Possibly. Wouldn't bring all the kids and civilians killed by the IDF back to life. But they haven't and Israel are still killing innocent people.

Why should anyone take responsibility apart from the ones who are committing the atrocities and war crimes? Starving and killing people doesn't lead to peace "

Israel has a problem. As bad as it is, what they are doing is the only solution they have. If you want them to stop doing it, you need to provide an alternative solution to protect themselves. If you force them to stop doing it and they get hit by Hamas again, you need to take responsibility for that.

If you are neither going to give an alternative solution nor take responsibility, but just give opinions about what they are doing, there is absolutely no point in your opinion.

Comparing Israel-Palestine situation with Russia-Ukraine situation is also idiotic for the above reason. If Russia folds and goes back to their own place, one can say with reasonable certainty that Ukraine can be convinved to not go out and attack inside Russia's territory. But the same cannot be said about the Israel Palestine situation.

Find me..

Those who blindly support the aggressor who is responsible for 40,000+ deaths and is being tried for genocide at the International Criminal Court,.... please study this conflict from the beginning (from 1948, not march the 7th) and educate yourself before spreading lies and hate!

End of the day, Hamas still have hostages and Israel will do whatever it takes to retrieve them. I don't understand why people are trying to force Israel to stop instead of trying to force Hamas to release the hostages.

Because Israel are a nation state and hamas are a terrorist organisation. I'm that regard Israel correctly is held to the standards of international law. Hamas isn't and can't be. Having said all of that, of course hamas should release any hostages that they still hold. It doesn't need to one or the other. Both things can and should happen.

Both has to happen at the same time. If you want Israel to stop but find excuses for why Hamas won't release hostages, Israel has all the rights to throw these opinions to dustbin. Protecting their own people is their first priority over everything else.

You have some serious issues… I suggest you stop watching GMB news… Hamas are Hamas.. however killing everyone in the hope you get them.. is a war crime and those supporting this need to be sent to The Hague.

Amazes me how people can be so openly vile in their views.

I've certainly questioned how far I'd go if it were my family being held hostage. Hopefully I'll never know.

I hope it would never involve killing thousands of children. I don't see how anybody other than the sickest of scum could excuse that. And yet here we are.

Again, the nice little white middle class know nothings spout their nonsense. Hamas is Hamas? No it isn't. Hamas is Gaza, Gaza is Hamas, Iran, other militia and amateur enthusiasts.

On October 7th, Hamas, Other Militia aided and abetted by Iran and 15,000 Gazans attacked Israel. On their return , the people of Gaza (men, women and children) celebrated in the streets. When you are brought up from birth to hate and martyrdom is promoted as a career choice then you have today.

When the Arab muslims love their children more than they hate us, then it will stop.

Three weeks later, "peace" was declared."

So you have just stated that the allied forces were “more brutal” than the nazis?

"Eurovision is corrupt, always has been.

We got screwed over."

Because the vast majority of posters on here are white, are middle class and certainly know nothing. All I am doing is stating fact. If you take offence at that, that says more about you than it does about me. The truth hurts but then again being butchered, r*led, m*ordered or k*snapped hurts too. Somehow, I reckon, of the two options, you got the better deal.

Has the ICC launched any War Crime prosecutions against Hamas or Israel yet?

If they haven't then why are people talking like they have, doesn't this just demonstrate the posters own prejudice in this matter and ultimately declares were their loyalties lie in this matter.

Maybe it would be better to wait for facts to be established before accusing one side or the other.

Hopefully, the IJC will take a dim view of South Africa (who have ignored IJC rulings in the past) taking a 100 million rand (+ commission and expenses) Iranian bribe to bring the action using the Iran / Hamas provided document as SA has not set foot in Gaza since October 7th.

And for clarification, the ICJ stated recently, when explaining their comments, that there is a plausible risk and not a plausible case.

Although I don't think it was commissioned correctly, I do think those Senators had a point.

How can they press charges against Israel and ignore actions committed by other nations and bodies. Russia, China, Syria and Hamas itself to quote a few.

They've committed worst acts and there's been nothing from the ICC.

It makes of hypocrisy a bit.

The Green Prince, the son of a Hamas founder and brought up to succeed his father.

He says Hamas are never to be trusted, will never stop until all Jews are wiped out and they will never stop their barbaric, terrorist actions.

He is probably the best suited to give a genuine description of Hamas as a group and what their true intentions are.

"The interview that pears morgan had with mosab hassan yousef, the eldest son of one of the cofounders of hamas was interesting, he have great insides into hamas and is on israels side too.The Green Prince, the son of a Hamas founder and brought up to succeed his father.

He says Hamas are never to be trusted, will never stop until all Jews are wiped out and they will never stop their barbaric, terrorist actions.

He is probably the best suited to give a genuine description of Hamas as a group and what their true intentions are.

Mrs x"

Not sure but isn't this the interview we're he said ordinary Palestinians and Hamas cannot be separated and that they are one and the same?

I haven't seen any comments supporting hamas or their actions.Which have been roubdly condemned. What the debate moved on to was Israel actions prosecuting the war / invasion. Basically displacing or killing anyone in their path.

But that's not the whole truth is it?

IDF forces gave warnings to those in or near the targets they attacked. They even dropped leaflets by ait to tell innocents to evacuate. Don't remember that happening much in other conflicts. Hamas on the other hand instructed their citizens not to move. They want high collateral damage because it suits their narrative of Israel as the aggressor.

The reason why there are so many civilians in Rafah right now is because the IDF told them to evacuate there while they attacked the North of Gaza.

Hamas started this conflict. They hide behind their civilians and use their deaths for political gains. They built their infrastructure under civilian areas for just this purpose.

95% of Gaza is empty, they could have chose to build it there but they chose to build und we the 5% of Gaza that's occupied by their own citizens. They did this over decades, misappropriating funds that could have developed Gaza and for one reason, to hide behind their population.

Israel has a right to protect their citizens from future invasions and to fight to ensure this.

So this is about proportionality? How should Israel respond here, should they fight back, should it just be a diplomatic approach, what is appropriate for an invasion on sovereign soul, the murder of over 1200 citizens and kid napping of over 250. And all this from a group that has fired thousands of missiles into your country, for decades?

So what would be appropriate?

Diplomacy, adhering to un resolutions, formation of Palestinian state, ceasing settlement building on Palestinian land, prosecute any war crimes following due lrocess.. As for hamas, they need to surrender their terrorists and prosecute any war crimes and follow due process and participate in a meaningful diplomatic solution. Unpicking years of abuse and conflict will take time but it needs to start.

America and Iran and Russia of course are happy to see their war carried out by proxy.

Son of a Zionist general.

Interesting interview worth watching on YouTube. Miko Peled is absolutely extraordinary to listen to. An Israeli-American activist and author, his family were Israeli national heroes: his grandfather signed Israel's 1948 Declaration of Independence, and his father served as a general in the Six-Day War of 1967.

Peled tells about his journey away from evil religious ideology of Zionism and how Palestinians are dehumanised and ongoing genocide against people of Gaza.

"Did Hamas attack Israel, or was it occupied land? "

Several Iranian backed militia groups including Hamas together with 15,000 "poor innocent" Gazans attacked Israel.

Gaza was occupied and administered by Egypt where they used Gaza to attack Israel, together with the four surrounding Arab League countries, in 1967.

Egypt was defeated and the land was occupied by Israel during the subsequent negotiations. Egypt accepted the return of the captured Sinai but refused to accept Gaza even though they were responsible for the administration.

Israel was stuck with Gaza for forty years. Israel tried to encourage Gaza to become the Singapore or Hong Kong of the middle east. They tried to get Gaza to develop the offshore oil fields. It wasn't altruism, Israel knows that rich countries rarely go to war with their neighbours, they are enjoying life too much.

After nearly forty years, during which time Israel invested in the infrastructure, so Israel started talks with Hamas who were, then, a much more moderate group. In 2005, elections were held and Israel left Gaza. Israel also ethnically cleansed Gaza of Jews forcing them to leave for their own safety. In the meantime, the moderate Hamas leadership was murdered or exiled and so we have current Hamas leadership.

You just have to revisit what happened during the December ceasefire to see why diplomacy isn't working. For diplomacy to work, Hamas also has to look for diplomacy. It's clear that they don't. So why do you expect Israel to follow diplomacy, when Hamas still hasn't released hostages?

And don't even get me started on the UN. It's a joke of an organisation. They chose Saudi Arabia to lead women's rights forum.

Formation of a Palestinian state?

Gaza is a Palestinian state which is governed by Hamas. The West Bank by Fatah. There have been 5 occasions Israel have been involved in the negotiations of a two state solution. Each time the Arab League cancelled the negotiations. 5 separate times. No recognition, no acceptance

When Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, over 1000 missiles were launched from Gaza into Israel.

When is enough, enough. Israel say Oct 7th is the straw that broke the camels back and they are going to rid themselves of the threat from Hamas.

They are not against Palistinians, they have over 2 million Palestinian citizens living in Israel.

The ordinary Israeli citizens voted for this government because they want this sort of response from their government. They have also suffered since the formation of Israel and they want protecting. Unfortunately Hamas have underestimated the levels Istael are prepared to go to in order to protect their civilians.

Any Jews in Arab or Muslim countries with rights? Nope. They were driven out or killed when Israel was created. Iran had 150,000 Jews, Algeria 140,000 in 1948. They barely have any left in those countries nowadays.

Considering that you have the greatest source of information and knowledge since time began at your fingertips, AKA the internet, I'm afraid it is a bit of a daft comment. The "Euro" in "Eurovision" doesn't refer to Europe the continent, it refers to the European Broadcasting Union. This union includes such countries as Australia, Armenia, Israel, Morocco and Qatar to name but a few. Australia has hosted the competition several times and Israel have been participating since the early 1970's.

And closer to home, the Christian community in Gaza is just one third of what it was in 2005. In the West Bank, Christians have gone from being 10% of the population to being less than 1%.

Under Islam, Christians are considered dhimmi, a tolerated but second class who are afforded protection by Islam. Dhimmitude is integral to Islam; it is a "protection pact" that suspends "the [Muslim] conqueror's initial right to kill or ensl*ve provided they submitted themselves to pay tribute."

It should also be noted that Palestine have one of the highest rates of Human Rights violations according to Amnesty International. These include cultural misogyny, homophobia, transphobia and worker's rights. Women are abused by husbands, and have no legal recourse. Homosexuals are subjected to appalling abuse, torture and execution and these cases are rarely investigated by officials. Of the top 20 countries listed by Amnesty International for human rights violations, 18 of them are "governed" by Islamic extremists. Where do people think all those poor sods who risk their lives on crappy boats to get here come from? They're escaping wars and violence in Islamic ruled countries, such as Syria, Iraq and Iran. As many very well educated and knowledgeable scholars have said, the two biggest threats to the safety of this planet are Islamic extremism and climate change. In that order.
