Spit roast

Anyone can recommend a good ? Now the weather is getting better will be good to plan a nice bbq but would like to do a big spit roast instead rather than the usual bbq. Do you have one? What do you like to use it for? What's your favourite meat? Chicken, beed, pork or lamb perhaps?

Bare in mind to ensure a spit roast is cooked properly it takes hours and lots of charcoal. We did a suckling pig and you generally use min 1kg of charcoal to 1 lb of pork..and it took over 5 hours to cook properly. You can hire mechanical spit roasts or do you fancy turning it manually for 5 hours..they also need basting and the juices collecting to do this.

Thank you, yes great things to consider. Yes either hog or lamb, possibly a couple of chickens too depending on how many. Gives a bit more choice

Went to a thing and they had a company do pig on a stick, it was already cooking when we arrived late afternoon and was a good few hours in before being served

Big rotisserie thing like supermarkets have for chicken
