I kind of agree with this although not as assertive

There are some amazing people I've found on here but I wouldn't consider the one I've fucked to be friends, although when I go to group socials, there are definitely people I look forward to seeing again if I see they're going as well

The same way I end up being genuine friends anywhere else.

By chatting to them about anything and everything but sex and getting to know them.

I have made very close friends who aren't on the site anymore but we are still in touch.

I have a found a fwb through the site and one of those benefits is our friendship.

We are genuine friends by being genuine.

I don't really like the term genuine because... I think all my friendships are genuine but to varying degrees of closeness.

That aside, I do have a handful of very close friends. One I met through a social - it was the morning after and we were both in similar states of disarray. A few were through the forums. We grew close because we invested time in getting to learn each other. It doesn't mean daily messaging, it doesn't mean seeing each other every other week.

It does mean a level of openness, I know they're there for me through the good and bad times. I love them. They irk me slightly at times, I must be a fucking nightmare at times. Wouldn't change them. Our friendship transcends Fab. That's when I know it's very important to me.

I have good friends in the couple I've been meeting for some years now, and the married bi guy I rarely meet (as he cares for his disabled wife) but we exchange emails most days. Both have given me much support over my bereavement last year and still do so.

I was young and naive, and thought if he was talking to me about her maybe he was talking to her about me, and I reached out to her, unsurprisingly, that went down like a cold bucket of sick. Jeez, I just read this back and realised how harsh as fuck it sounds to the people I've had sex with

I think what I meant was there are people I've met on here who I've chatted to, felt like great friends with, met up, had sex and think just naturally drift apart after or message every so often and so it would be difficult to consider them "genuine" friends. There definitely someone I've met up with regularly and we've had sex but I also just love being in their company and would definitely consider them to be a close friend, if not more along with people I message regularly who take a genuine interest in my life as I do theirs
