Carlisle usually

Uh.

Usually there's been conversations and attempts made to resolve issues before it reaches that point.

But it's usually just a case of saying that this isn't going to work for me any more, and I'm grateful for the time we've had when it comes to that last one.

"What do you say?"

I don't, I'm a sucker for the sad eyes and quivering bottom lip and so cannot escape. The alternative is being stalked with the fear of what might happen (like Joyce McKinney and the manacled Mormon missionary - though maybe that's some people's idea of heaven! )

I just say that it's not working for me, for whatever reason. I'd rather people were direct and honest if they were ending things with me, and I very much go by "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

I’m brutal, and can’t be doing with the whole long winded dance around it.

I’ve simply told them I don’t wanna be with them any more, and have moved out the same night. Why drag out the inevitable.

On the only occasion I ended a relationship I told him outright that I didn't want to go out with him any more.

In adult life I've either been ghosted or it's fizzled out naturally.

I usually film myself violently fucking my asshole with a soft defrosted fish finger and then send it to them HD quality and that usually scares them away so I don't have to be the bad guy who ended the relationship.

I'm not really one for relationships, to be honest. I've only had one romantic relationship that meant anything to me.

I've only cried over one man's treatment of me.

I remember the good times with lovers, rather than mourn over losing them.

I say something along the lines of “I don’t love you anymore” or “this isn’t working for me anymore”.

I think I could do with a lesson in how to break up with someone in a less hurtful way?

I have learnt never to say “we need a break” because it’s the same conclusion as above but with a slight delay that causes nowt but angst.

The last time I ended a proper relationship, I was 16. It was very much "this isn't going to work, you are too juvenile and we now have big responsibility."

FWB - ghosted/ignored by them. Ditto actual friends, apart from the one who got sniffy because my newly disabled self couldn't do certain stuff anymore. That ended explosively (I exploded).

I've started to contemplate whether it's necessary to interact with other humans or whether Mr KC actually has it all correct.

Needed to hear this - was spun that exact line of ‘we should take a break’ fairly recently….and you’re right ultimately I guess it’s them actually ending it completely. Feeling pretty foolish now for thinking that it was anything but it ending for good!

Me too

I think almost all relationships are transient and temporary. Only very rare and special ones endure. Loyalty to friends and family is encouraged of course but nobody tells you that flogging a dead horse is a big waste of time.

Marriage/ relationship I will have usually tried to make things work with previous conversations etc so by the time I know things need to end its shouldn't be a shock when I have ended things..... sometimes it is if they haven't been listening.

For FWB .... well again I am honest, say its not working for me and I don't want to see them in that way again. Have tried to stay friends with a couple of previous fwb .... but have had to repeat the boundary of not having sex with them as they tried it on.

With a hook up I've met once or even a few times ... again just say don't want to do it again.

If people ask for reasons I generally try to be kind .... unless they've been a thunderous c*nt to me in which case I will be brutal.

My ex was quite brutal and openly told me she was "trading me in for a younger model".

Looking back at it now I actually appreciated the way she did it. It was out of the blue but all over very quickly.

My last FWB from here told me he'd met someone and wasn't looking to continue swinging.

I appreciated the phone call; after the fun we'd had it was great to be able to end it with good feeling and positivity rather than leave it dragging on.
