I generally avoid your threads Tom, but this time I totally agree with you. What absolutely disgusting, inhuman behaviour. I was moved to tears when I read the article. Sometimes I think this sort of thing shows how little hope there is for us as a species. Unfortunately prison sentences for this sort of thing tend to be disproportionately light.

I used to think I had a strong stomach and an unflinching attitude towards things after my time in ERII's Boy Scouts and later her B&B.

I only made a few paragraphs into this story before reversing and wishing I hadn't bothered.

I'm not sure who I am paraphrasing and would be interested to learn but "a way to judge society is to see how they treat their most vulnerable memebers". Know this isn't quite what I'm looking for but damn me this was upsetting to hear about and worry about the fear and panic they suffered.
