Tom has always promised himself that he would try a Greggs, which is famous for it's sausage rolls. He went years ago and it seems the so called steak slices and sausage rolls are much smaller and of course more expensive. Is this true or is it Tom's memory? Now Greggs is not the fine dining but it has it's place to feed those who are struggling.

It's a load of salty shit.

They do however advertise on 'too good to waste' where you can pick up £10 worth of goods at the end of the day for £3quid. If you're struggling to pay for lunches, it's worth a go as you can spread it over a few days.

The other day we were travelling back home as we were thirsty we thought we would stop at Costas to get a hot chocolate. As we had a sleeping baby we didn't want to stop so we were going to drive through, unfortunately it was shut. Nextdoor was a drive through Greggs so we gave it a try.

How wrong we were, Hot Chocolate

It was just about warm and it tasted like it been near some chocolate.

Will not be going again.

Gregg's seem to get in stuff frozen..and warm it up. It tastes like that.

Waterfield's food tastes fresher.. Like it's made on site.

I'm not sure if waterfields is nationwide though.

Yes they have remarketed themselves a few years ago and been very successful at it, much to shareholders delight.

I hardly ever frequent their establishments, for the reasons you have stated.

I tend to get pies from more local bakeries, but they are becoming rarer, so I bake them myself with my daughter. We are planning a batch of Jamaican patties this week. Which reminds me: I need to get some saltfish, If I can find the time.

Not heard of Waterfords.

Down in kent there are Rooks Butchers (think thats right?) that do everything that a Greggs do and more. Pies etc all from their own butchered meats too. Was always an added bonus working near one of these outlets for lunch

If I'm working on a Saturday I treat myself to a coffee and a bacon roll from Greggs, only because the nearest Subway doesn't open as early, Subways bacon subs are so much better than Greggs bacon rolls.

Greggs has its place.

In my world, where McDonald’s, KFC and BK dominate the service stations, a Greggs bacon roll and cup of tea is perfect.

And before you say come off the motorway and find a bakers/cafe, these days there aren’t many places that you can pull up in an artic.
