I sometimes do it and I buy things like books that arent in print anymore and I also like to go down to the charity shop to see what clothes they have. I found a good deal on some clothes few days ago.

There are some real bargains to be made if you are looking around, both online and in shops, it is also fun to support your local charity shop, not just that but it also saves the environment, because you are reusing things and reducing waste as well.

When was the last time you shopped second hand and do you do it?

Haven’t in ages but used to adore rummaging in charity shops. Clothes, books, bags. Can be a bit hit n miss I remember, depends on the local area. But it’s great to support a charity, though I now just donate direct.

I go and look in charity shops, especially around holiday time and especially now as I'm in the Inbetween stages of weightloss so it's perfect for me, although I have noticed prices slowly creeping up x

I buy stuff on eBay, got two pairs of ear buds for my friend and one of her daughters last week.

Last time I got for myself second hand would be a good two years ago at least. Some old oil cans, love those.

Not been to a charity shop for years but used to go always looking at the clothes first then glassware and kitchen stuff.

Saturday was the last time I bought something. Before that was Thursday.

I like the re-use, recycle element.

I do where possible! Got a great sofa from the big BHF shop a couple of years ago. It was decent quality and had been used for show in an unused room so it was a bargain! If I can shop second hand then I do but it’s getting tough. A lot of the charity shops research prices online now so there’s not as many bargains as there used to be.

Yep. The now towers of books betray my weakness for charity shops.

I also really like Vinted. I don't think there's anything wrong with buying things secondhand as long as it's in good condition.

I'm less keen on some charity shops nowadays though... why are Primark dresses sold for £10 second hand when that's more than they retail for originally? Ridiculous mark ups at times.

I support one. I volunteer in it. I sort through donations,hang,steam and stock the shop floor. Only one shop for this charity. £300 in one day to help those who need it most.

I prefer to buy second hand, if possible. Obviously, there's the benefit of things being more affordable, but mostly because it makes more sense from an environmental perspective.

I don’t tend to have time to go to charity shops, but I also dislike the very disposable world we live in.

My solution has been for years to buy the very best quality I can in most things. I make my clothes last years (fashion has well and truly passed me by!), furniture is well used and repaired. I don’t tend to buy much in the way of electrical goods because I just don’t use them. I do have a very comfy home though.

I have to buy a new coat before autumn and I’m gutted. The last one only lasted 17 years.

I buy second hand clothes from EBay. Haven’t done so for a good few months as trying to declutter at home!

Depends what it is.

Some things I'd only buy new for various reasons.

But books and clothes and some furniture for sure. There are a lot of super interesting styles and materials that buying new is either impossible or usually unethical.

I love charity shopping! We have a nice community shop around the corner. The kids love going in and having a nose at the toys and getting a slice of cake at the cafe.

Only cars, in the past; everything else is always bought new.

Any clothes in the house that are still serviceable once done with are either given to friends or go to charity; I only bin clothes when they’re wrecked.

I love them! It was my elder one got me into them. Now, a perfect afternoon is trawling the charity shops, seeing what we can pick up!! All sorts of bargains.

My last second hand purchases were at a car boot sale yesterday. 2 as new cushions, a dress, an unworn skirt, 2 handbags, 2 t-shirts and a selection of posh toiletries for under £20. I was well chuffed

I was raised in charity shops - my mum is still obsessed with them - and I guess stopping that is kinda part of my being my own person.

I now can’t get enough of walking into a shop and being able to predict what will be there and where it will be, rather than opportunistically hunting through brick a brack for “something”
