The Welsh,who call their country, the Land of Song, have banned dogs from many of it's beaches from May until Srptember. Why not all year round on all of its beaches. What's going on here guys. It's all over the news

They have the same rule here for when the tourists are around, the dogs get the beach in winter and the tourists get it in summer

Most just go at night when no one is checking, it’s full of foxes anyway

Most of the popular beeches in Ireland have the same rule. It's not just the poo though. A lot of people go sit on the beach and let their dogs off leash and that can be a nuisance or a worry for some.

Especially as in Wales the sheep graze on the wet beachlands .. it's were salt marsh lamb comes from .. delicious

This rule has been in some beaches in Wales for years. In the county I live in there are less than 50% that exclude dogs.

From what I see this happens in England too. Is this a bit like the 20 mph thingy, where some people complain loads that Wales has them when they also have them in England?

I’m torn on this one! My dog is the best living thing on the planet, ever! Better than the hooomans! So technically she should get to go anywhere she likes! Even Buckingham Palace if she chooses!

BUT,

When I was at the beach the other week down in Poole, I put my rucksack down (containing my lunch and drinks) for ten minutes while I was busy doing my geeky detecting stuff in the sand and then I looked up to see this HUGE dirty great Labrador cocking it’s giant leg on my beautiful rucksack and lunch!! I was like “fuck off dirty dog!” but it just looked right at me and seemed to smile as it carried on doing one of those wee’s that lasts forever! And its owners just laughed!!! I felt violated and had to throw my lunch away and my bag went straight in the washing machine as soon as I got in! it’s just not the same now - my bag is the pee bag! Everyone I know calls it the pee bag now! My daughter is like I’m not touching the pee bag dad!

Some dogs should be allowed everywhere, some dogs should only be allowed in hell!

Trouble is unless you concentrate on what your dog is doing the whole time you miss them pooping, say for example when you're on the beach and the dog runs up in the dunes out of sight, i had to tell a guy the other day they were walking in front of the dog and it crapped behind them

I went to a caravan park on holiday once and it had a dog friendly beach. Made the mistake of visiting it one warm sunny day during the holiday. I’m still haunted by it. The smell….the sight…..bleurgh.

Dogs should be kept off the beach in the Summer.

Dog owners have only themselves to blame for the members of their community who do not clean up behind their pets and the ones who do pick it up and then hang the bag on a bush or similar, well I suppose the poor devils have some mental problems. I live next to three beautiful beaches and let me tell you I am all for dogs banned or at least kept on leash. I NEVER see dogs on leashes, and dogs are always all over my blanket or shitting in the sand and their owners are nowhere to be seen. I love dogs but it seriously fucks me off. But again, this comes down to shitty and lazy people rather than the animal.

Down here in Cornwall - which is the sticky out bit at the end of England known for pasties, pixies & cream teas - there is a mixture of rules re: canines on beaches.

Some are total dog bans, some partial bans (winter only or only allowed early & late in the day) & some beaches dogs are allowed all year round.

This way if you like dogging - sorry dog walking on the beach there is always availability - & conversely if you have a dog phobia you also have dog free choices..

I’ve never had a problem with dogs at the beach but it can be a nightmare if they’re not well behaved. Last year mine and my daughter’s picnic at the beach was ruined when a dog dived into the middle of us, shook his wet fur everywhere and nicked a sausage roll on his way out for good measure!

we saw the funny side but his poor owner was just chasing after him shouting and apologising to everyone.

Most of the beaches I've been on, it the humans leaving more shit on the beach than any dog.. used nappies, cans, bottles, crisp packet etc. They have a bag to carry it all to the beach, how hard is it to put it back in the bag and put it in a bin?

Scariest thing like that to happpen to me was when I was pulling in my line, which had a rubber sandeel lure and a seagull took it from just on the surface.

All of a sudden, hordes of its mates came from nowhere emitting war cries and mobbing my boat. Very scary for a while. Fortunately the stupid gull let it go after a while. It hadn't actually got hooked. Might have been a different story if it had.

When dogs are allowed on beaches without a lead, it is always fun watching them tearing towards a group of gulls and then looking up at the sky in bewilderment as the gulls lift just high enough to escape.

Dogs on beaches, sure - on leads!

There is, in this country, a lot of lazy dog owners that rely on a breeds nature to determine how they live and interact with other dogs and people alike

The result is a lot of dogs with little training and poor manners

I love dogs, like really love them, I just wish that more were well mannered and well trained

That starts from being a pup

Until we get to that point, love your dogs to bits (you will get it back tenfold), but outside of a contained and secure environment, keep them on a lead

I'm not really arsed about dog shit - just pick it up and pop it in a bin

Top tip - always take at least one extra bag, cos you never know when they might surprise you with a little extra
