Is it better to ask before sending or just send one?

After chatting that is.

I tend to say if they want to they can send one to me leave the ball in there court so to speak.

What's your thoughts?

A random friend request is a bit odd. You need to be chatting beforehand

Having been on here for a few years now, I've 'collected' the sum total of about ten friends, all of which were incoming requests. I don't accept them on a whim, hence the low number.

I simply don't send friend requests, solicited or unsolicited.

Those who sent them asked me first. I'm susceptible to courtesy.

Send lots out, one is bound to accept. Law of averages in it.

Depends! I’m honestly not that bothered. Nobody has ta accept you if you send one, so it kinda has a built in safety mechanism either way. If more people sent them then more people would be friends and that can’t be a bad thing in my view?

If anybody wants to be my friend then why not have a go at sending one?

some where in Yorkshire

If I get a friends request from someone I don’t know I usually wait till they go off line then add them as a friend, look at their pics then unfriend them haha … if I’m chatting to someone and they send a friend invite and have no pics, then I don’t accept them

Each to their own OP

We are only friends with people we are actually friends with, through meeting.

Judging by status updates, some people get massively offended by unsolicited friends requests.

We just delete (see above ref meeting) and get in with our day

What does a friend request mean.

You met in real life ..most think it's a free for all free access to pics

I'd prefer to be asked first, as just having chatted isn't enough to mean I'll want it.

The huge volume of men who sent requests without ever having made any contact is like a virus here. Do you want to be viewed as similar to them?

We only do friends with people we have actually met.

If we just get a random friends request, we delete and block.

A message with a request, we politely decline and message our reason why.

Most reply saying they understand, a few take offence.

I view an unsolicited Friends Request as a hope to see pictures which are set to Friends Only.

There is, however a reason I've set them to Friends Only - I don't wish for everyone to see all my photos. Some are more explicit than others.

Therefore, the chancers can jog on.

.

Those on my Friends list are those I've actually met (or am very likely to).

.

If I wanted to send a request I would ask first.

.

But that's just my humble opinion.

We always ask about friends request, most are club/event accounts or people we've met whilst out, we don't really add people with no view of meeting.

I do find it strange how many friends requests we get from couples who then entirely blank us when we message them, you can't delete the request because they'll just keep sending them.

This.

I'm not offended by random friend requests, I just think it's weird and ignore them.

Most people have certain photos in friends for a reason.

We state on our profile we don't accept random friends requests...(not that it gets taken any notice of) mainly by single guys. We've just had a wink, followed by a friends request... I just think well they not bothered to read profile and block. We add if we've met or been talking to for a while and plan to meet at somepoint.

Instant block if someone sends a friend request without messaging first. If someone asks in first message or after a couple then they'll get blocked. If friend request is sent after exchanging like 2 messages with them telling you they've sent it, they get blocked. If after 2 messages they send a friend request without saying anything I won't block them just delete. If they send again then I'll block. Only if after talking for a bit and over a few days will I accept if they send one, either telling me about it or not. I never send friend requests.

I don't care if it makes me seem a cunt, they only do it to see more pics like I don't have enough public as is
