Middle child syndrome?

It’s been documented that the middle child will usually act in a way to create attention, whether from parents or their peers and is something that normally dies down over time.

I’m a middle child and when I was younger I was far too shy to want any kind of attention…. Yet as I’ve gotten older I find myself wanting to be noticed more and more.

Could this be middle child syndrome creeping in or simply growing more confident with age?

Middle child?

I thought it was the youngest who was attention seeking and manipulative, the middle who is quiet, unheard and underdeveloped, and the eldest outgoing brave and confident?

None of my three children were or are attention seekers. They all got equal amounts from me.

The middle one has always been more energetic and lively, but that's from a baby.

Her younger sibling isn't far behind her.

somewhere

I have three boys and myself and my ex husband always made a pact that the middle one wouldn't get middle child syndrome, to the point he always ended up getting the best birthday days out and stuff, we went completely the other way with him, that said, his older and younger brother both have autism so parties etc were always a bit of a grey area with him and if anything, it's my eldest that probably has "forgotten child syndrome" as he was the first, for some reason whenever we went out for food you could guarantee the server would always forget his food, it became a running joke that he was always forgotten lol.

Mind you my middle one said about 8 years ago (he is now almost 22) "my birthday always gets forgotten"...oh I'm sorry, how many parties did you have? A bouncy castle, trips to theme parks (summer baby) the one time we were on holiday and we forgot to buy him a birthday card is the one he remembers (despite us going to a motor museum and him going in a classic car being ridden around like a king, it's the card he was salty about lol)
