Why do some people happily correspond and then when you no longer suit their criteria, pretend you never corresponded with them in the first place... And then block you?

Because that's the way internet correspondence often goes?

Because some people lose their shit on places like this when you say no, and because abuse isn't fun?

I get that but can't tar everyone with the same brush, surely?

Blocking stops another contact being made once they've established you're not compatible.

It's not personal and is also a way to reduce abuse... some people struggle to accept a no.

Near Clacton

Same reason they message back and forth and make arrangements to meet then don't turn up. They are first class arseholes or they finished their wank.

"I get that but can't tar everyone with the same brush, surely?"

Sure you can.

Say I'm talking to Bob. I've discovered Bob isn't what I'm looking for.

Having spoken to Barry, Bruce, Bill and Baxter, all of whom abused me after I said no, I'm not taking my chances. Abuse fucking sucks. Far more than being blocked.

(No, not all men. Obviously. But one is too many and it's a lot more than one)

"I guess l think differently.

I've even had abuse from people who tell me they'd take a no gracefully.

I'm not saying you're lying. I'm just saying, the vast majority of women (and probably other categories) have been abused on here and other places for saying no. If you block, the abuse doesn't come.

(By the way, if you use the reply plus quote button, it helps us know who you're replying to)

Think of it this way - do you wanna stay in touch with the type of retard who does that?

It's a gracious blessing that works both ways.

Because for some I've corresponded and definitely decided to take it no further. So block to stop further chat.

For others I've said no twice and they still message ... so block

For a small number I say no thanks .. they get abusive so I block

It's not pretence, it's the to be expected turning into a dead end and putting a block in place, to prevent reoccurrence.

Most people are not mutually compatible with most other people. With realistic expectations we should expect this always.

No reply= thanks but no thanks. Blocks stop any harassment, abuse or unnecessary waste of time and energy to all parties.

Blocking is a good filter of people we do not wish to communicate with. My messages...wanna fuck now or I say no thanks and get abused. Accept it as a no thank you and move on

I get you. So appreciate your views. Every time l have had a block or rejection, l have moved on. But would never dream of being abusive back. But some do, l understand.

When they block you it's like the trash took itself out

I rarely counter block so they can keep unblocking me and looking at my profile!

Calderdale innit

There's usually a reason someone blocks. They changed their mind, they didn't like the way it was going or it may have been something you said.

Perhaps life got in the way or some just never intended to meet at all.

As others said, many block as it saves anyone getting abusive or aggressive, when they said they'd changed their minds.
