After talking with a lovely friend, I’ve been inspired to probe into your minds and lives again and ask you about priorities.

Who do you make a priority in your life?

Yourself?

Or another? Who are they to you? And do they prioritise you in return?

Appreciative of your answers in advance

Depends.

When I’m feeling stressed, which is too often, I usually revert to ‘me first’ as a bit of relief and protection.

But with a wife and daughter, they’re first (in reverse order) if I’m OK.

Gotta mend your own roof before you shelter other people.

I’ve never heard that saying before, love it! Thanks

Our little one, and Ailsa, are my absolute priorities. Everything and everyone - especially myself - come afterwards. That isn’t to say that I never think of others, or never put myself first, because I do. These kinds of things are often a moveable feast as the whims of fate ebb and flow, but certainly the welfare of our little family unit makes up the lion’s share of my energy and focus. Xx

I'm terrible for other people before myself

It's a real effort to put myself first

My main priority is my old four legged faithful friend

My job, my nieces and my sister are up there too

A couple of friends follow

Everything else is incidental

Putting your job first is the worst isn’t it! Please give your furry friend a belly scratch from me

When needed I do prioritise myself otherwise it's;

My best friends

My work

Everyone and everything else comes after that.

I only have me to prioritise - and I don't manage that very well.

I drop everything for my kids.

And I make others a priority if I care for them when I know I’m alright and in a really good place, because when I’m not I’m absolutely no good to help anyone.

So - Kids. Me. Others.

Wherever I lay my hat

I spent 30 years prioritising others - partner, kids, work, other family. Constantly pulled in different directions. If my kids or my dad (or good friends) need me I would 100pc be there for them but otherwise I'm putting myself and my needs first now. It's me time!

the abyss

My family, my partner and a few close friends. I will always prioritise them over myself.

Which is not always healthy for mind or body to be fair. But I'm lucky to have them in my life and so will continue to do so

But don’t sacrifice yourself to meet their priorities first. I learnt these lessons the hard way, make time for yourself too

I'm always my top priority. Then my mum, then my close friends, then my wider family. I'm always the centre of my own universe though.

My kids, my husband, my Dad. I'm way down the list.

Kids are kids, they do what kids do.

Mr KC prioritises me, yes.

My Dad is too consumed with dementia to have the ability to empathise with others so no, he doesn't prioritise.

My kids, my mum, my three dogs.

My kids are both under 16 so I’m not their top priority. Their friends and their working internet are.

My mum - she does prioritise me unless it comes to making herself a bacon sandwich when she seems to forget she has a daughter.

My dogs. Two of them prioritise me. The other one tolerates me because I feed her but my eldest is her top priority. She adores him.

So I’m ok.
