I have seen a lot of forum-dwellers use "ect" (wrongly or rightly). What are you? Are you the former or the latter?

I sometimes repeat etc etc etc for dramatic emphasis. I play fast and loose with language - I'm a maverick like that.

Ect is Electro-convulsive therapy, as far as I am aware. I'd want to stay clear of that kind of confusion wherever possible.

I’m defo etc and when it see ect it makes me cringe a lil bit, similarly to when people type expresso instead of espresso. However I acknowledge we all make mistakes in life and these are more forgivable than some. Obvs.

ummm pondering on this , I rarely use ETC or etc to continue a thread of written words. I was always led to believe that you wrote what was on the thought process or just stopped where you stopped. I really hate people that use the 'and so on and so forth' I knew someone who practically finished every sentence with it.

Etc is used to express the unlisted items, so pondering I think I include the list or somehow verbalise that there are other items ...

thinks my pondering went a bit deep!!

I was always taught that you need a full stop after an abbreviation where it doesn't include the same first and last letter of the word.

So Mr doesn't need one, but etc. does! Feels old fashioned so could well just be my school...
