oh its yummy, with lots of vinegar on it!

has to be the right pie though, not a pukka one, a mince one with the unique pastry of a pie shop pie

Manzes comprised of over a dozen shops, but the original M Manze (Michele Manze) still have Three shops, Two of which are pre war.

The others were opened later by his relatives.

Tower Bridge Road was the original shop.

Michele is widely credited with inventing the Liquor....

Oh my gosh the tower bridge manzies was our local one! (well sort of, after the one in blue anchor stopped doing just p&m). My mum sometimes goes there and brings it all back to Essex for us (liquor in a Tupperware lidded jug)

There are a few still out in the Romford area.

Reference Clarks, wasn't it they had to close down due to the local council receiving a complaint from a newcomer to the area who whinged about the smells coming from their premises?

If it is, what is about these plonkers who want everything so perfect and sterile? They complain about the bells ringing in the local church; the cockerels crowing in the farms etc.

Shame, a company with history has been forced to close down due to some namby pamby eejit!

It looks like thin parsley sauce (it may well be that but I'm not too savvy on my pie and mash history)

I had a chippy and pea wet is just the juice from the mushy peas so I can't see that being like "liquor"

It is common for the mashed potato to be spread around one side of the plate and for a type of parsley sauce to be present. This is commonly called eel liquor sauce or simplyliquor (although it is non-alcoholic), traditionally made using the water kept from the preparation of the stewed eels. The sauce traditionally has a green colour, from the parsley.

If in doubt goggle it

As a Midlander, I'll take my chances then.

There was an outlet in The Westfield Centre called Pieminister, now sadly closed down. It was quite expensive but lovely grub and always used to visit after we had been to watch a film
