Children in Care

Chelmsford

Reports that social inequality pushes more children into care care in the north than in the south. 1 in 52 children in Blackpool are in care compared to 1 in 140 in the rest of England. More than a quarter of children are born in the north but over a third of children in care are from the north. But Tom's observation is this. Where is the bloody north? In London the north is north of the Thames. North Londoners think it's anything above Watford Gap. In Watford they think it's Birmingham and in Birmingham they think it's Liverpool. Scousers think the north is where the woolybacks of Lancashire live. So where is this place and how can you visit if no bugger can agree where it is.? What is going on here guys. It's all over the news

Exactly Toms point Batty.

Oft discussed, I reckon it's somewhere like Sheffield and the equivalent northerly areas and upwards. Watford gap isn't Watford just on the edge of London, of course, it's in Northamptonshire.

If this is a thread about where is the North, could have titled it differently.

Id say anywhere over the wall...

As for children in care..

Unfortunately the social care system is on it's knees, with greater levels of inequity and poverty.

Until people are placed higher on the importance scale than money, I can't see how it improves.

We are in a country that is steadily declining. Services are perennially getting worse. Debt (personal and national) is constantly getting higher, and politically, the focus isn't on getting the basic things right for people - North or South, or Scottish or Welsh, and may as well forget Northern Ireland.

Oh look over there - there's someone else so we can feel good about ourselves
