The greatest pop song ever…

Manchester (he/him)

I’ve spent some time doing exhaustive research (my friends and partners are exhausted from me asking) and I think that it’s time to put this topic to a vote!

The premise is fairly straightforward; list your top 5 songs in order of preference and I will tabulate the votes after ascribing descending values to your choices.

I will post the results in a few days!

Put your thinking caps on folks…

couple, us we him her.

Well in no particular order I will name some songs I believe to be almost perfect " pop" song's.

Toxic, Brittany Spears.

Biology, Girls Aloud.

Thriller, Michael Jackson.

Everybody (backstreet's back), Backstreet boys.

The Look of love, ABC.

I've taken into account production, popularity, longevity and video.

Just pop? Just 5?

Oof.

Right this second they'd be:

Itchycoo Park

Good Vibrations

It's a Sin (can substitute almost any Pet Shop Boys song)

Love to Hate You (can substitute most Erasure songs)

Groovejet (if this ain't Love)

My preferences change with my mood, so it's highly unlikely I'd pick the same list on a different day, but I'd bet Pet Shop Boys and Erasure would feature on any pop list.

Pointless exercise on such a subjective subject. Everybody will have different views I very much doubt that you will get consistent results. Or the demographics that engage in this type of thread will skew the answer.

My top five will different every day and could include something released that day.

Celebrate what you know and like and keep an open ear to the new.

I think when I heard her do a stripped back version of it I realised how good it was. The music video visuals sort of fill your mind.

I’d probably sing along with Reach and keep on moving, both are well executed songs.

Cher and believe I struggle with.
