King's Crustacean

If it makes me feel good for MOST of the time it's in.

If it makes me feel sad more often than not then it's out.

Goes for people, places, food , art , music ......

How does it affect my being.

I know there are times when we have to do things we don't want or like but generally that is because we can see the long term benefit ......

What would you regret or wish for on your death bed. Those are the truly important things.

Aside from that, if it's important to someone I care about then it's important.

La la land

Don't people have like a little weighing balance inside them, that tells them?

The obvious things are easy to figure out, the more difficult things sway up and down more until it settles, so takes longer.

What feels meaningful.

It's usually significant people and my interests. Everything else gets categorised into 'stuff I have to do in order to maximise time available for that.' And is done as efficiently as possible.

It's taken me 40 years but it's time. Time to breathe, time to do things I want to do and time to have fun. Planning things to look forward to and making sure I priorise happy over stress. Ironically I say this as someone who literally works 7 days most weeks!

I've spent the last 23 years of my life just surviving rather than actually living properly so now I'm actively trying to change that.

I don't decide. The feelings just be feeling.

On a case to case basis.

Covid was a chance to hit the reset button and brought a change of pace and a different job.

People have always been important to me, sometimes to my own detriment but in the last 10 years I've found a balance between looking after my own needs and those of others and prioritising if required.

I'm not sure. It feels important, is that a cop out?

Possibly, so I'll try again. I'm going to agree with Wyld. Time and intent. That's how I feel important, the markers of friendships, relationships that tell me I matter.

It doesn't mean that it's a constant pouring of time, in to communication, doing it, whatever. I don't expect nor want constant communication from friends for example. But for me something is important when I make space and time for it and I enjoy doing so. How much varies.

What’s important just is. If you need to think about it or rationalise it then you’re being influenced or considering what’s important to others…

St Leonards

What will give my kids, grandkids, great grandkids and so on for a few thousand years an opportunity to thrive.

My answer is they can't thrive unless all humans find a way to thrive, and all humans can't thrive unless our total environment thrives. Even though we still have to "extract" in order to "add"...but there are better ways of doing it, albeit still compromised.

Those answers lead to mad psychic rationalist philosopher stuff. Add some homeless stuff. Lovely Fulham home was nicer. But doesn't deal with the issues in the first paragraph. Which is the important bit that drives the rest of the madness.

Friends and lovers invited in when time allows.

I like friends and lovers lots.

But I "need" to tackle the first paragraph more.

Because I'm mad xx

Being content, calm and peaceful. It applies to my family life, friends and work.

To feel I am making a meaningful positive difference.
