'15 plate AMG A45. Made even a rubbish driver like me feel like I knew what I was doing. So much fun to drive and the grip levels were amazing. Wish I'd kept it to be honest!

A blue series two rs turbo that was a combination of two rotten rs turbos I’d owned previously went to scrap yard found a solid shell painted underneath and inside rebuilt from ground up and sent for professional re spray, I started it after a breakup that I took pretty bad (first serious one) and spent countless hours on it and helped me get over it, sadly I sold it to a mate for a fraction of what I’d spent on it after having my first kid I made him promise to give me first refusal but he never did and sold it on I still have the odd dream about that car now would give anything to still have it

I was weirdly fond of the Honda Accord I bought as a stop gap last year. Until the bottom of the engine fell out as I was driving, I was less fond of it then, funnily enough.

My little 1.6 petrol astra that I did over 200k in before a tree fell on it and killed it

Car or vehicle? Difficult choices. Probably best car was 2 door Honda Accord automatic which had a Capri look to it. At the same time I had a four door Quintet manual which I loved just as much.

In parallel I started down the MPV route with one of my all time favourites a Toyota Space Cruiser. Fantastic memories of using that as a day van in the woods at Eureka.

My all time favourite was a tin top Mazda Bongo diesel. It did everything I wanted for 14 years.now replaced with a Honda Stepwgn. Nice vehicle, almost silent after driving a diesel but miss the torque. Seen nothing else on the horizon which will really be what I want but I've got first refusal on a later cam belt free version but which is getting too clever for what I need.

I can truly say the golden age is over for useful uncomplicated vehicles but at least cam belts are going out of fashion as money pits. My little 2003 Suzuki ignis runabout is cambelt free and I am hanging on to that knowing that I will never again get such a great small car.

All the vehicles mentioned were built in Japan for the worldwide RHD market and

Not bastardised for Britain euro built versions. That's what made them irreplaceable favourites. My golden age of vehicle owning is, sadly, over.

1991 toyota corrola 1.8 diesel.

Had it for 8 years until the head gasket went with 380,000 miles on the clock. Up to that point never gave any bother and was the easiest car I ever owned in terms of being able to service it myself

Had a laugh with a new model VW polo for a few weeks recently as lower to ground, tighter turning circle and unexpected welly in first and second gears.

notable that just about every garage i deliver to has a mk3/4 scort in the back under some sort of "restoration" most of which have made no visible progress in years apart from the ever thickening layer of dust .as for cossys offered a saphire 2wd in moonstone for £26k last week needs work to finnish tho

Favourite is a toss up between 3 I owned a few years ago; Corrado VR6, Audi S2 coupe or '86 Audi Coupe GT.

Jesus, that’s a tough one…..

The most loved (maybe) - the Astra GSi I had; did everything to it that every self-respecting boy racer does….full respray, bodykit, alloys, engine mods, seats, dials, interior mods. Poured my heart (and a small fortune) into it.

The most ‘special’ - TVR Tuscan 2. The looks, the noise, the speed. Loved that car to bits (hard to choose between that and the Astra, they meant a lot at each respective point in my life). Gutted when I had to let it go.

The most practical - Ford Mondeo TDCi. Did a ludicrous amount of miles in that thing and with the back seats dropped it was cavernous; could fit so much stuff in it (came in very useful for helping a mate move house).

The nicest overall - MB EQC400. Lovely inside, super comfy, plenty of boot space and pretty big with the back seats down. Quiet and serene on the move, but violently quick (thanks to 760Nm!) when it needs to be!

The better ones before were 2 capri’s which I loved..

An xr4i Sierra followed by an xr4x4 turbotechnics which was awesome but the best was my 1986 xr2, American 1.9 cvh block very modified giving 150bhp at the wheels,

My current Micra is 128k miles now. Hoping for a few more. It's been great, must admit I've never treated it well (no mechanical sympathy) but it just keeps going!!

The dealership that i purchased first two honda crv’s from . Plus one honda civic . Has now change to a different manufacturer. When I asked why. Salesperson who known for years said. Problem was . People bought honda’s and kept them as so reliable. Did not replace say every few years?
