I may be missing something but what is this obsession with massive tellys. It feels like some think is a status symbol and keep getting a bigger and bigger one. I can understand if you live in a mansion with a massive entertainment room then go for it. Getting a telly nearly as big as the room itself is a bit sutprising to me to say the least. Of course no offence meant to anyone who likes a big one as we all like different things. I was in a shop recently and saw the size of some of them and was just wondering why. Their prices were unbelievable too. I have also seen them in people's tiny houses and flats and again was wondering why. That's all

I would buy a triangular tv I mean the shape does not matter either

My 2 tvs cost me less than £100..as technology progresses so does a tv.

I've got an LG 49" 4K TV which is wall mounted on an arm so I can move it around if I want to.

To be fair, it's the first really big TV I've ever bought, and I guess I just bought it because it was a rare opportunity to get one at the time (as I'd had a pay rise) and I was keen to have a Smart TV for once, especially as all my friends and family had one — it cost me £469 in 2017. I'm not gonna lie, but there was some FOMO at the back of my mind too, and getting a Smart TV was way more achievable than anything else remotely exciting

Before that, I'd always been used to dinky 26" TVs that were sat on a cupboard or TV stand, and I just wanted one I could see well at a distance without squinting, even though my lounge isn't big. It was more of a practical choice that also appealed to my geeky side.

I guess you could say it's a status symbol for me, in a strange way, but it's not due to size and more to do with not feeling left out, which probably says more about me than I care to admit to

I have 43 inches, which is identical in size to a can of Lynx incidentally .

Wall-mounted, it fits pleasantly with the general decor. Any bigger it would dominate, any smaller it would develop an inferiority complex.

I planned the room's ratios in my brain box, and did all right.

OCD aesthetics happy .

Mines 65 but it’s ok in the size room it’s in fits nicely in the bay window with a bit room to spare room is amount 4m x 4m not including the bay and alcoves ceiling is 2.9 so it still looks quite small wouldn’t mind a tiny bit bigger one to be honest

Used to have a 30-something, but after the ex-husband took his 50" TV, the 30 looked tiny in the media unit, so when my TV kept making weird noises, I bought a 48" or 49" (not exactly sure).

It fits well in the unit and the room, but I wouldn't want anything bigger.

Ex-b-i-l had a humongous TV in his living room, and it was a narrow room. When you sat on the sofa, it was only 2 meters away, far too big and far too close. If anything like his brother, he may have been compensating...

Mines oversized for the room it's in and the distance I'm sat at.

Truthfully it's the cinematic appeal and the immersiveness whilst playing games that gets to me.

Also retrogames that were made to run at an aspect ratio of 4:3 look huge, as well as those shoot-em-up arcades whose games were supposed to run on portrait displays.

Multiplayer split screen games like Mario kart look like they're running on 4x standard sized 37.5" large screens!

I’ve got a 65 inch telly in my living room. I bought it from a friend who was getting rid of it for £225. It’s too big for the room it’s currently in but I’m moving it to the kitchen dinner where it will be used for big games when I invite people around.

I’ll eventually get a brand new smaller one for the living room as this one is actually too big to be mounted, sounds like something else in my life.

We had a 55" Samsung TV in our previous house which was a little too big for the room, but when we moved to a much bigger house in 2021 (nearly 3 times the square footage) I bought a 65" LG OLED TV, which is great for HD and 4K content, but looks a bit shit very close up for non-HD stuff.

The living room in the new(ish) place is large, we sit 17 feet away from the telly so I kind of wish I'd gone 75" or bigger to be fair.
