A local taxi company had the slogan “We go the extra mile” on the side of their cars.

Is this something you really want your taxi driver to actually do.

What other real world misplaced company slogans have you seen?

BTW who came here thinking this was a thread about Vanessa Paradis?

I like the anti-drug campaign that wrote "Too cool to do drugs" on the side of pencils and gave them to students.

As you used and sharpened it, the message changed somewhat

"cool to do drugs"

"do drugs"

"drugs"

Very recently, I saw washing powder with the slogan “use less” on the top of the box.

There was very little gap between the two words, so basically it said useless

A well known deodorant manufacturer had a usage instruction that said “remove cap and push up bottom”

I’m not sure what the exact intention was. Remove the cap and then push the deodorant up your arse? Or remove the cap and shove the cap up your arse? Or remove your own cap and shove that instead?

I'm fairly certain this is apocryphal, but when Harley Davidson re-emerged in the 1980s, their US slogan was "The Legend Continues".

They didn't spend a lot on their first Japanese marketing campaign, and it was badly/cheaply translated into, effectively, "Antiques That Won't Stop".

Always felt too good to be true, but it raises a little smirk whenever I remember it.

Here's a version of the opposite. There's a pizza place in the south of London "Pizza on Demand". This just seems to be a description of how shops work - you ask for something, they give it to you and you pay. It's like they think other shops refuse to give you pizza when you ask for it or bring it round to your house randomly when you haven't ordered anything.

The Vauxhall nova had to be sold under a different name in Spain, as no va means “doesn’t go”.

Colloquialisms can cause a problem too. One of the German supermarkets had packs a few years ago that instructed people to “crochet your own Mickey”, with a picture of Mickey Mouse on the box. This was met with much hilarity in Ireland, where “Mickey” is slang for cock.

Billboard opposite a gym says something like 'We'll have your phone fixed quicker than you get that six pack'.

Do they mean months? Years? Never?

Irish Mist had similar problems in Germany
