This made them easy to catch. The symbols of the fertility festival therefore became the Hare and Egg. Romans introduced rabbits as food to Britain. Over time their numbers have grown and Christianity associated rabbits to easter when the pagan festival was culturally appropriated. This period of three festivals is therefore: February 5th/6th - Shrove Tuesday / Valentines Day The lovers meet March 21st/22nd - Fertility Festival - Easter The lovers mate May 5th/6th - May Day - start of summer The lovers marry Nine solar months after the lovers mate (21st March), the son (goddess sunna) is reborn at the winter Solstice (Dec 22st) In the Lunar calander, the winter Solstice falls on the 25th day of the 10th lunar month after Spring Equinox. Or to use the Roman vernacular, upon the 25th day of December. In short what you think of as Christianity is in reality pre-Christian paganism attached to the story of a political dissident from the Palestine.
