Been told the same as well if it helps. Not worth dwelling on. Just be yourself and fingers crossed you’ll come across some great people at some point. Otherwise you’re just jumping through endless hoops trying to please and it’s not worth it. Just be your normal and friendly self, don’t let here change who you are as a person. The simple fact is there are far more single blokes on here then the rest put together so you will get a lot or rejection for any old reason no matter how strange or sudden. It’s not you fault or theirs either as they want something specific and that often includes one dimensional characteristics they think how a guy should be and conform too. Which is understandable with so many other guys on here, where dim a dozen so there’s no real need to waste time investing to dig deeper and see if it actually works as they will still be way to many other guys to choose from so it’s easier to move on to the next dozen or so lol.

No one can ever be too polite Rocco. Especially not in a first message. I'm going to be more inclined to reply to a "Hello, I like your profile. Would you like to chat?" ... than the multitude of "Hey, fancy a f**k" messages that fill my inbox and instantly get deleted. I even updated my status this morning to say "..men you need to up your game and learn how to communicate with women!"

Once those initial messages have been exchanged, then yes, the level of politeness can come down a notch or two...to suit however flirty your conversation is with each other.

It's not difficult, it's all about adapting your language to suit the situation. And, not forgetting, being respectful to each other in the process. These days there isn't a great deal of that on this site (in my opinion)

Definitely, that’s very true, was just a funny thought that came to me and one that often made me laugh..

The crux of the story was, unbeknown to me at the time, she had a BF and then started asking what i could offer her more than him and I immediately went into super polite mode and became self deprecating…

Though i’ve been told it before..

Definitely no loss of sleep over it haha

Polite isn't a a bad thing in itself.

I leave my filters open. Which means I get double digits of polite hi how are you messages every day. Which is why the profile says the answer is fine please skip the small talk. It gets tedious going through the same social song and dance to get to the damn point.

I also get double figures of dick pics and fuk now style messages every day. None of them get anything other than a no and/or delete.

While I don’t think being polite is a bad thing. I can tell when people are saying what they think you want to hear and not really being themselves. Overly polite small talk doesn’t really interest me. I’m more likely to get bored of the conversation.

Hi, us ladies can get hundreds of msgs daily. Only recently I had 1111 unread msgs to contend with. I can't answer for others but what gets my attention is something that stands out and I don't mean yet another dick pic lol. For me, friendly and funny chats get my attention, as well as sexy chat. I much prefer a guy who is polite, mindful, engaging and can keep a conversation going. I can't be doing with the "stop/start" type of convos where are gaps between messages and it's the usual? "hey, how are you doing?" repeated. I soon lose interest.
