"Have you ever had yours tested?"

No , they are useless tests.

I’ve had to do general cognitive tests , reasoning, acumen, text/numerical and personality for most jobs I’ve had so I know where I am relative to the population

Not sure it’s a relevant measure in the swinging world, but emotional intelligence maybe of significantly more value.

"Have you ever had yours tested?"

When I was young, yes! I was a member of Mensa for a few years, but there seemed very little value from the £50 annual membership fees... the "Annual Get Together" was quite epic though despite the cost.

I think it was around 128 last time.

But I think I've scored slightly higher before that.

iq seems to be a dynamic thing and can change/improve.

Not sure how useful it really is.

Some people I know have got those rare mensa scores. Yet they are incredibly foolish in their real life. With almost no wisdom.

It’s one of the worst tests available for predicting performance which is why headhunters and recruiters don't go near it and instead used heavily normalised tests with good control measures, that predict typical performance accurately

There's a difference in being intelligent and being smart.

An intelligent person may be able to thing deeply, but a smart person can think fast, and that's often the more important factor in the immediacy of the real world.

How can that be when most of the population haven't taken those tests?

High IQ indicates how well you perform at taking IQ tests

Partly true the test the Mr took a whomile back had sections that were measures on the answer as well as speed of answer/problem solving.

An iq number shouldn't be viewed/used in isolation really.

We're both adequately intelligent. We don't need to put a number on it. One person we've known who was in MENSA was severely lacking in the ability to actually function in the day to day world.

Smartest person I ever met was a genius scientist at a national laboratory in South West London.

He was clever as fuck but dumb as a bag of squirrels also zero common sense.

I'd rather have street smarts and common sense anyday over knowing the most complex mathematical equations.

IQ is only one measure of intelligence. There's liquid intelligence and crystallised intelligence for a start, plus emotional. If you factor in neurodiversity, people who are neurodiverse can be a genius in some areas, but not others.

Are IQ tests useful? Yes, in the correct context.

Does it matter what my IQ is? Not in the slightest.
