I can't.

My mind wanders on compulsory chores "do the laundry in the afternoon etc."..

On the rare occasions I'll do yoga, I forward those meditation bits on the video.

I've tried, and failed. I'm not very good at nothingness and clearing my mind. I don't know if that's good or bad

I go through phases of being disciplined and meditating everyday for 6 months then fall off the waggon for 2 months. Gonna start again today thanks to this tread!

We had a yoga instructor who had studied yoga since being a child and at the end of every session we would have 15 minutes mediation.

He had a skill in talking you into a meditative state. I couldn't do it on my own

No, but I've given up watching TV completely, and often just zone out to silence. It's lovely

Meditating is not about wiping the mind clean but allowing the thoughts to wander in and out of your head space without focusing on them. Dont give them weight. Observe them with detachment. Concentrate on your breathing and relax.

When i was younger (a lot younger) I used to meditate. But over the years it's not even been a consideration with life usually being to hectic or i've just genuinely not thought about it.

I’m now thinking I could perhaps get on board with this meditation lark

Using the mind, your senses like feeling breath move through you nose , techniques to try to keep your mind calm & unattach from and be non judgemental about your thoughts, leaning to separate I from self. You know that’s not meditation

I try and do 10-15 mins about 3 mornings a week. Just before sunrise is best

Leads on to tantric methods of sex, focussing the energies. Take it slow.

Yeah I picked it up last year when I had to take time off for stress. Now I try and take at least half an hour a week to sit and be a bit more mindful.

I also use it when I'm at work with some circular breathing to help calm me

I meditate. I don't do it with the hope of having zero thoughts for half hour or so. I Allow thoughts to come in, recognise that I've allowed a thought to creep in, then let it go with the intention to keep my mind clear until the next thought comes floating in. Rinse and repeat about 100 times. Trying to have a totally empty mind for long while is, in my opinion, an almost impossible task. Humans don't work that way.

What this constant practice does for me, is it allows me to focus my mind onto one thing. It's enabled me to listen to people better, remember names, to give the present moment total attention, and so on.

To me meditation is a rather boring thing, but over the years it strengthens my ability to apply my uninterrupted focus exactly where it needs to be.

I meditate every morning before I even turn the radio.

It helps me deal with life and everything that’s chucked at me

Sagittarius A

I sit and contemplate the Wyrd and Orlog upon the canopy of Yggdrasill.

Most of the time a brew is enough for me to remember I'll be dead and gone and none of it will really matter, before long.

And then I laugh at ironic futility of it all - accepting my confusion is something I chose to engage with in the first place.

Then I usually fix the hole where the rain comes in and stops my mind from wandering. I fixed a tap yesterday, tomorrow it will be something else. £10 for the part from Amazon, daylight robbery, why is everyone sitting idly by whilst the economy is being destroyed?

And so the cycle continues.
